”Where's my wife?” The moment the doctor left he looked around the room again searching for her.

”She's in the room next door,” Eyan replied.

They had no idea how to tell him that she had been badly hurt and was in a coma.

”How is she? I couldn't wake her up or get to her. I couldn't protect her.” If all the persons in the room did not hear the guilt and sadness in Alex's voice, then they were probably hard of hearing.

No-one wanted to be the bearer of bad news after hearing how broken he sounded. Seeing that he had just woken up, they held back the truth from him.

”She hasn't woken up as yet, but the doctor says she will be okay.” Wan Bai replied before anyone could say his daughter was in a coma. He hadn't accepted it. He had not accepted the fact that Zunnie may never wake up. He wanted to be hopeful even if he had to lie.

Even though he felt the penetrating stares. He overlooked it and continued speaking.

”Are you hungry? We still have some soup left. Wait…let me just grab it.” Wan Bai left the room before Alex could reply.

He was slowly falling apart and it was becoming bothersome. His hands were shaking violently as he attempted to get the bowl of soup.

”Don't worry, I got it dad. You should stay here and keep sis company. The doc said it's good to talk to her. Go, sit down or lay down beside her and talk to her.” Eyan who had followed behind his dad urged him.

Wai Bai walked toward the hospital bed where Zunnie laid lifeless. If it were not for the machine constantly beating he would think that he was dead. She was really pale. There were traces of blood on the white bandage around her head. If only he could change it himself.

”Pumpkin, it's me, your papa. I'm right here waiting for you to come back and give me warm hugs and kisses. I already lost your mom and I don't want to lose you.”

He stroked her exposed hand then held it tightly. He had to be strong for her. He wiped away the tears from his eyes and continued to speak to her.

”Alex woke up today and he asked about you. He feels bad; I can tell. Eyan is here with Selena. Sasha and her husband also came to visit you. Pumpkin their baby has gotten so big. The Zi's are also here. Everyone is here and we're waiting for you. So pumpkin, hurry and come back to us. We love you.”
