36 Making the body clean (1/2)

”To make the body clean by, first avoiding uncleanliness. We must not eat unclean foods. It includes all the beast with paws, shew the cud, or of them that divide the cud. Only those that have fins and scales can be eaten for the those that live in both the sea and the river..”

As Henry continue, Cheska's face became darker and darker. She imagined the monks and nun back in planet earth.

[will I be wearing some ugly robe and have my hair shaved? that is as worse as food limitations]

Then she realized her role. As the one who manages the household she is also concerned about the types of meal to be served daily. Although she does not directly cook and prepare the menu, her choices of food are greatly considered.

Boar, choldrein, camel, rabbits, feline creatures and other types of beast with paws are part of their everyday menu. To increase their strength, they also eat the blood essence and meat of rare beasts.

[When Henry said that the spiritual cultivation is hard to follow, I thought some routines or exercise was hard to perform, but this.. I am fooling myself…] Cheska was unsure about whether to follow it or not.

Imaginig herself like a hermit or monk made cheska frown.

The cultivation manual is nuts to let them avoid such types of food. Not just meat but fishes and crustaceans as well.

Looking at Cheska's distorted face, Henry smiled and asked if she still wanted to continue.

But the heart is powerful. Just to have moments like this with Henry she was ready to sacrifice all the pleasures in life. Forget about the tasty dishes.

Cheska paused and weighed the consequences. She loves Henry but is she crazy enough to take this leap? she took a deep breath.

”I... I can do this.”

Henry smiled continued to enumerate the type of food which was prohibited by the manual. Francis and Helen nodded in agreement. The same rules applied in Planet Hilan. It will not be hard to follow and remember it all. From their expedition from planet to planet the same rules apply.

”When a man has any discharge, may it be from wound or other body fluids he shall be unclean. Every bed that he used, chair and clothes shall be unclean. Whoever touches an unclean man or touched his bed, clothes, or used his chair should take a bath.”

As Cheska listen intently she realized that the words that Henry were speaking of are familiar. It was like she have read it before. Henry emphasized the transfer of uncleanliness, like if the unclean man with issues or discharge, touches another person, that person needs to bath, or if he used something and was used by another that person needs to bath.

Cheska did understand the concept based on standard precaution. Microorganism can be passed on and cause disease. This is the same with Francis and Helen.

[maintaining a clean body must mean being free of pathogens in this world] Helen thought.

”If a woman have an issue or discharge of blood, she needs to be put apart for seven days, whoever touches her shall be unclean”
