53 Getting Settled in Danmachi (1/2)

For the next week it was rather chaotic. I showed up at the building and not even 5 minutes after I checked in Athena came up to me and let me know that the Chimera was dead. She knew that I had put the tag down there too so apparently she talked to the guild and they gave me some money for risking my life. I mean, I'm sure I would have gotten a much higher reward if I presented the body on my own, but... I'm level 1 and I won't be able to use that poison again, at least not to that level for quite awhile.

It's better to do it this way though, and I kept reassuring myself of this as well for the whole week, since I mean it wasn't a lot that I got, but 1 Million Valis. Yeah that may seem like a lot, but really, in this world a single good sword can cost that much, so they gave me just enough to go and get a good piece of equipment really. Or live off for awhile.

Anyways, after I killed it, the monsters stopped being quite so organized and the various adventurer's were able to go and successfully kill all the monsters off. It looks like even though this is a rare occurrence, yeah it's pretty rare but not extremely so, like I was talking to them and it seems that in this towns founding about 200 or so years this is only the 4th time of this happening. I actually managed to run into Haden while he was telling everyone what was going on and he was very friendly to me, he even told me that it was likely due to many things, first and foremost the fact that Hiemal Tower hasn't been finished yet.

So yeah, apparently this is called Hiemal tower (A/N: Look up the word Hiemal. I thought it was fitting) and it has been under construction for about 150 years now. The goal is to get it to be bigger than the tower of Babel due to the fact that this dungeon is actually harder to suppress than the one under Orario. When he heard of what I did and the Reward he told me that he'd send someone over to talk to me later...

And that's where I am now. I still don't have anywhere to stay, but currently there is a very small girl, well no a woman. She's a Pallum so basically a hobbit/small human? Anyway, she came to me in the shelter talking to me about buying a property. I tried involving Athena in this, but well. This was her Answer.

”You need your own place. My hotel room is too small for two people.” This girl... woman... goddess. Son of a bitch it sounds like I'm complimenting her. Anyway, yeah. Apparently the guild gives her some money as consulting fees but she spends it all on the damned library and food apparently. Yeah, she eats a lot. Leave it to a goddess to not gain any weight though. I mean I don't either but still, I can actually die for a bit from eating the amount of food that she ate in the span of an hour AND IT WAS ALL SNACK FOOD. Yeah. God her finances need to be organized.

Well, back to the Pallum, she was showing me drawings (no pictures in this world. I miss the Naruto world already) and a good sized portfolio for each. All of them were around 500k Valis, so no matter what I'd be spending a good amount, but all of these properties were amazing and as a special I get a year of some pretty good protection. I mean I planned on adding seals to the place that would make even the Uzumaki clan shudder.

I eliminated 5 of the properties pretty easily since they were in a crowded area that wasn't even close to the tower or guild, which made both of our jobs a good bit easier. I fingered through the remaining 5 and looked for some pluses to each of them before looking at more negatives, and every so often would ask the girl to help clarify things.

One property was called Headfast Manor(No not steadfast. I asked to make sure.) and apparently it was named that because the person who built it was not only Headstrong but also steadfast. That trait got him killed though, so yeah. I was ready to dismiss is on it's name alone, but I saw that it was actually mostly land size that made up the cost I didn't want it. I don't want to go through permits or anything of the sort, I just want a building that is done (that I will then go and modify) so having open land is just boring and a waste of time.

Out of the 4, one that I liked was apparently one that was used as the Headquarters of a Familia, that is until their god disappeared somehow. The place was actually located in a 15 minute walk from the guild and an hour walk from the dungeon so it was at a fair distance. They were a crafting Familia so there is a large blacksmithing area, a large alchemy area, and a just as large area for training or testing things. The size of it was actually quite decent and could house 50 people comfortably, enough for a medium sized familia, more than enough for a large if the members didn't sleep. Even the Kitchen gave me a favorable opinion, it wasn't anything like the ones I had back in the Naruto world since I had used fire chakra to give controllable flames, but it was nice looking and even had large community areas like a library, a lounge, a living room, and apparently even had some secret rooms. However, I could sense the trope.

I set the documents down, ”It's haunted isn't it?” I put my hands together and rest my chin on them, however she shakes her head against my expectations. ”It's the god's disappearance then?” To that she starts nodding her head. Well they probably get bad juju from it, I don't really care though. ”So how long has it been on the market?”

She looks downward, ”20 years. We haven't been able to find anyone willing to purchase something tied to a mysterious event like that.”

I smile, I can smell a good deal coming, ”Hm, well 535k Valis is a good chunk of my money, even if I can afford it. I do like the property though as I do wish to start crafting myself, and I'm sure others will as well. So, how about we try to reach a compromise?”

She looks up and thinks before shaking her head, ”My boss will be mad at me if I raise the price any lower, especially since she is ready to demolish it and just sell the land and whatever scraps are left.” Oh? Playing a bit of hardball?

”Hm, well then, instead of lowering the price, how about we include some things that I will need? I am new to here and all, and as I could tell, there is a need for furniture. Think you can help with that?” I know I can have much better furniture, but I mean, why waste money? I can always donate it later if it's not a good quality product.

She looks into the air for a moment before answering me, ”Hm, well we can't do it for free, and it usually takes 50k Valis for a job this size, however considering we want to get rid of the house, we just charge 15k Valis? As a bonus too, we will add an extra 3 months to the security we will provide.”
