Shi Li covered one of his ears as he went towards one of the trees in the center area. Its trunk looked similar to the wood Moddy was standing on, but it also exuded an aura of vitality with its leaves also pitch black, making it look like some sort of tree of death.
Without hesitation, he grabbed five leaves from the tree before standing a few meters from Moddy.
Moddy looked at this with curiosity. 'What is this human doing? I still haven't forgiven him for grabbing my fur, even if it's just one strand.'
Shi Li placed the items down on the ground before his pupils turned crimson red again.
'I want to obtain [Basic Cat Language Comprehension].'
He said this instead of asking the price again since he did see the item in exchange from the previous question.

'Yes!' Shi Li said without hesitation.
As if it came from a fantasy story, the leaves and the strand of fur vanished in plain sight, to which Shi Li understood as it was the eye taking the items. Moddy, on the other hand, was shocked that the items Shi Li laid in front of himself disappeared with a trace. But then Moddy realized something.
'This is an Eastern Fantasy story, a variant of a fantasy story. Same with fantasy stories, anything can happen [2].'
Taking 10% of Shi Li's mental energy caused him to stagger a bit because he was deprived of 30% of his mental energy, from the temporary movement boost he exchanged earlier. But even if he staggered, he was still awake, but felt quite tired.
Not long after, an influx of information shaped like a sphere entered his brain and radiated multiple beams of light, imprinting all of the information he exchanged into his brain. Seconds after, a pop-up appeared in front of him.

Hearing these two words come out from Moddy's mouth made Shi Li break out into laughter as he jumped up and down.

Moddy tilted its head as it asked, ”Eh? What worked-nya?”
Shi Li looked at Moddy and smiled. ”Well, me understanding you.”
”Nya?!” Moddy was surprised. ”I didn't expect that at all-nya!”
”Well with this, I won't have a one-sided conversation with you anymore,” Shi Li let out a sigh of relief after saying this.
”Nya. So that's why you pulled a strand of my fur?” Moddy asked.
Shi Li nodded. ”Yep. Having a strand of your fur allows me to understand your language, even though not much.”
”Eh? How does that work-nya?” Moddy didn't understand how a strand of its fur gave Shi Li the ability to understand its words.
”Well…” Shi Li scratched his head. ”I'll explain to you in the future.”
Moddy let out a sigh. ”We all have secrets. Guess it can't be helped-nya.”
”First, I have a question. Why don't you want me to grab the log under you?” Shi Li asked since they were able to understand each other now.
”Well-nya, this wood allows me to use my skills to the fullest-nya. There's something special about this wood that the other wood [3] don't have-nya,” Moddy answered.
”What's so special about it?”
”This wood resonates sound to a larger range compared to the other wood-nya, allowing me to create a barrier that is significantly bigger than if I used a wood that didn't have this-nya.”
”Wait...so the barrier around the borders of the center area was made by your wood tapping?” Shi Li looked at Moddy in a new light as the barrier scared a beast that was a few stages higher than Moddy.
”Nya! That was just an experiment of mine-nya, since I didn't want to be disturbed as I increase my proficiency with the skills I have.”
”I see,” Shi Li thought it was quite logical. But he was still adamant about the wood under Moddy's paws. If it was special, then it could possibly bring special effects to the storage. So he asked one more time.
”I know I'm being stubborn, but can I have this log under your paws?”
Moddy looked at Shi Li directly at the eyes with a stern gaze. It opened its mouth to say a word that held a lot of weight.
”No.”
