49 Chapter 49: Like a careless whisper (2/2)
What was fated?
...
Laurice was completely stunned.
Why was the man so talkative today?!
It was freaking her out!
She was screaming inside her head when she heard something unexpected from him yet again.
”Don't you like me at all?” Sid asked.
'This ... how the h*ll was she supposed to answer such question?'
Sid was looking at her with downcast eyes.
”You don't like me?” He repeated.
'Can she choose not to answer the question?'
Laurice was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
She have no idea what to say to him. She's attracted to him indeed but is it enough to say yes? She felt like saying yes would mean a couple of things. But if she said no, then wouldn't that mean she was lying? Would the man hate her then?
But does she want to be hated?
Laurice wasn't exactly sure what she wants anymore.
...
Meanwhile, Sid was feeling so anxious and restless in his seat. His heart was pounding. He thought he could handle any other rejection but not from this woman. Especially not her.
”Laurice” Sid muttered under his breath.
He didn't like this day to be their last meal together. He wanted to see her everyday atleast. He wanted to be the one to hug and kiss her good night and good morning. He had already pictured everything in his head that he could not imagine not having her at all.
Sid almost broke out in sweat.
He was breathing heavily.
He looked so terrible as if he was mourning over someone's death. Well, he indeed felt like it will be the death of him if Laurice downright reject him today. He could not afford to lose her.
Wait, didn't he decide beforehand on pursuing her still even if he got rejected? So why was he feeling so afraid now?
Well why the h*ll not?
Sid had an inkling that if Laurice ever rejected him today, then there will be no second chances. He had an ominous prediction that he won't be seeing her ever again. She seemed like the type of woman who would disappear anytime, anywhere. She was that independent.
His fear only grew stonger. His hands balled into fists.
Laurice kept silent the whole time.
Sid felt as if someone squeeezed his heart.
No, he doesn't want this.
He doesn't even want to hear it.
He almost had the urge to ran away.
...
”I like you.”
Sid was still lost in his thoughts when he heard the words. It was almost inaudible. Like a careless whisper.
