18 Episode 4- Mystery Papers (2/2)
The rest nod their heads.
Carley just looks at the store. ”That's where I saw them last..” She starts to cry.
”Huh?” Mike looks at her. He than looks at Shawn.
Shawn goes to her. ”You said-”
”I know!” Carley sighs. ”Before everything....my team and I all were just having some fun until...” She looks over at the field. ”It went down..”
*Day Of Infection*
Carley sits in the back of the van typing away.
”You know you shouldn't work so hard.” A woman with short red hair laughs as she nudges her. ”It's not worth it”
”I know Max but I still. I need to get all done before Gia has my ass tomorrow. I can't handle another one of her stupid speeches.” Carley rubs her head.
Max sighs. ”Oh believe me I know!” She laughs. ”That woman is evil! I swear shes the spawn of Satan!”
”You say that about everyone” Carley laughs.
Suddenly, the door to the van opens. A large man stands there with snacks in his hands. ”I got food!” He yells as he throws it at them.
They all laugh.
”This isn't food Marcus!” Max says as she picks up a candy bar. ”This isn't even healthy for you!” She starts to read the label.
Carley picks up a snickers bar. ”Who knows it could be” She opens it and takes a bite.
Max rolls her eyes. ”Move it! I'm going to go get real food for you pigs!” She jumps out of the van and walks toward the store door.
”Get me a pizza than!” Marcus yells.
Max flips him off.
”Oh you know you-” Marcus goes to say when out of no where a car hits Max.
Carley's eyes widen. ”MAX!” She yells. ”Oh my god!” She looks at Marcus who was still trying to process what had happen. She gets out of the van and rushes to Max. ”Oh my god!” She finds her bleeding out. She gets on her knees not caring for the blood to get on her skirt. ”Max..” She holds her. ”Marcus call 911!” She yells over at him.
He nods in response.
”Max hang on okay.” Carley rubs her head.
Max nods. ”I'm okay...” She faintly says.
”Shit we're losing her...” Carley looks around. ”Damn it!” She knows Max will bleed out if she doesn't find something to stop the blood. She looks down at her skirt. ”Ugh!” She rips a piece off and raps it around Max's head. ”There. That should help.”
”I called. They said they would be here in five” Marcus looks down at Max. ”How's she...”
”Good! Hold her head while I go find out why this ass hole hit her” Carley moves out of the way for Marcus.
He does as he is told.
Carley goes to the driver seat window. ”Hey ass hole!” She hits the window. ”Open up!” The driver doesn't respond. ”Fine! Don't want to talk huh?” She pulls on the handle. ”I'll just make you talk-” She freezes when she opens the car door. ”Oh my god...” She falls to her butt as she looks in horror. A man sits there with barley a neck growls at her. He couldn't move since the seat belt stopped him.
”Carley what is it?” Marcus goes to her.
She points to the car.
He looks over. He runs away to puke.
Carley shakes her head and shuts the door. ”That didn't happen..” She than hears screams. She looks over at Marcus who was getting attacked by ”Max?” She looks in surprised. ”Max?..”
”What is wrong with you?” Marcus yells as he falls to the ground.
Max gets on top of him and bites his shoulder.
Carley puts her hands to her face. ”No...no” She moves toward the van.
Marcus stops screaming.
”Marcus...” She cries as she opens the door. ”I'm so sorry...”
Max looks up at her. Her eyes met hers.
”Shit!” Carley gets in the van and shuts the door.
Max bangs on the window.
Carley cries as she tries to put the keys in. She manages to and takes off. ”Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!” She yells as she drives down the road. Suddenly something jumps out at her. She swerves and goes into the ditch hitting her head on the wheel causing her to pass out.
*Present Time*
”I hate myself for not helping...” Carley sobs. ”I should have done more!”
Shawn pats her shoulder as he looks at the others.
”Listen, I'll stay back with Carley while you guys go on ahead.” Mike puts his arm around her.
”You sure?” Carley looks up at him. ”What about your candy?”
He looks at Ellis. ”You better get me it still!”
Ellis laughs. ”Promise”
Shawn sighs. ”Okay. Well the rest of us go ahead.” He starts to walk toward the store.
Carrie and Ellis follow.
”Thank you...” Carley wipes her eyes.
Mike shrugs. ”Well if it beats having to probably fight zombies than I'll probably pick this.”
She laughs. ”Yeah..”
