144 The Treatment Started (1/2)

In the end, Chief Ye and the others extended their stay in a Da Cheng.

It was dark at night, and most of the citizen of Da Cheng had retired back to their house and rest. Only a few people were still on the streets. The guards were patrolling around, and there were, and a few drunkards were seen walking around the road.

Both Chief Ye and Prince Lu Wei were dressed tightly with their face covered under a straw hat. A guard dressed in all black held a lantern as he escorted them towards Han Zhenting's infirmary.

Once they arrived, they an apprentice greeted them and ushered them in. When they walked in into the room, Princess Lingchen and a few others were inside, waiting for their arrival.

”Pardon our tardiness, Your Highness,” Chief Ye took off the hat on her head and greeted the Princess as she walked inside the room.

”It's fine,” the Crown Princess said. Then, she introduced her grandfather, Han Zhenting to both Chief Ye and Prince Lu Wei.

Han Zhenting greeted his guests and exchanged a few pleasantries. Then, he suddenly stood up, cupped his hands, and lowered his head. ”Chief Ye, I wanted to thank you for your help with my granddaughter.”

Chief Ye held up a hand and stopped the old physician. ”You can thank me once I can get rid of the poison inside Her Highness body.”

”How long will the process take?” Han Zhenting asked.

”It shouldn't take too long,” Chief Ye said as she stroke her chin. ”I should complete the procedure before daybreak.”

Han Zhenting turned to his granddaughter with worry. The first time Princess Lingchen's told him that there was another way, he was elected. However, once he found out that no one else can be present during the treatment process, Han Zhenting started to have his doubt.

He had lost one granddaughter half a year ago, and Han Zhenting did not want to lose another one quickly. Although he did not fully trust Chief Ye, he had no other choice as his granddaughter was determined to take the gamble.

As the Crown Princess grandfather and physician, Han Zhenting had seen how his granddaughter suffered from the poison from the beginning. He knew how resolute Princess Lingchen was to cure the poison in her body. He could only pray that the procedure will end successfully and wished that the Princess' choice to undergo the treatment under Chief Ye was the right choice.

”Then, I will leave my granddaughter in your care,” Han Zhenting said to Chief Ye.

Soon, Chief Ye and Princess Lingchen were taken into one of Han Zhenting's treatment room. Prince Lu Wei stayed outside to guard the door and stop anyone from entering the door. From where he stood, Prince Lu Wei could sense a few hidden guards, watching the old physician's hut. If anything happened to the Crown Princess, they will make their move and stop both his grandmother and him.
