144 The Treatment Started (2/2)
In the room, Princess Lingchen sat down on the bed as she let Chief Ye examined her pulse before the treatment started.
”You're tensed,” Chief Ye commented. ”Your Highness, you don't fully trust me with this treatment, so why would you want to continue?”
Princess Lingchen smiled. ”Chief Ye, I don't know you and your grandson well, pardon me if I don't have my full trust. It would probably take years before we found another batch of the herbs needed to cure the poison in my body. I'm afraid that I might be dead before I am cured. So, when I was presented with hope, of course, I will have to grab it. This might be the last and only chance I have to cure the poison.”
”You've suffered for too long,” Chief Ye said as she patted the Princess' hand. ”No one I know has been able to withstand the pain from the cold poison.” Chief Ye saw the slight smile on the Princess' face and turned around to pick up a cup of water. She handed the cup to the Princess and let her drink.
”I will be honest with you,” Chief Ye said once Princess Lingchen finished her drink. ”The cold bug has been inside your body for too long. It will be difficult to remove it all. But rest assured, I will remove it all. Once the poisonous bug is no longer in your body, you need to keep yourself warm as it will be easy for you to catch a cold and other diseases. I trust that your physician will be able to prescribe some medicine to keep your body warm.”
Princess Lingchen nodded. ”Chief Ye, you keep referring it as a poisonous bug. Why is that?”
The Chief's lips curled into a smile. ”Because there is a bug inside your body, Your Highness.”
The Princess' eyes widened at the Chief's words. ”What? A bug?”
”To be precise, there are a few bugs inside you. Someone had raised a cold bug inside your body for years. Since it has been years, the bugs have grown quite big in your body. Your grandfather had kept the bug dormant for years, that is the only reason you are still alive,” Chief Ye said. ”Or else, you would be dead six months after you fell into the pond.”
Princess Lingchen was shocked. If only her Imperial Father did not summon his maternal grandfather back into the palace, she had probably died years ago.
Chief Ye stared at the Crown Princess and noticed that the princess' eyes have started to get heavy. ”Your Highness. Please lay down. I will start the treatment soon.”
The Princess nodded. She laid on the bed and blinked, wondering why she was getting sleepy all of a sudden. Then she remembered the cup of water the Chief gave her.
She was drugged!
