Ryn lowered her eyes and looked at her hands. They were holding her backpack.
”Do you want a budget hotel or...” Mei Li's voice trailed off as she waited for Ryn's answer.
”Somewhere safe enough for me with a lot of privacy,” Ryn said finally. She was clueless about where to go because she did not care about how many stars the hotels own. All she cared about was whether it was safe for her to stay. She did not want any risk especially when she would use it as her temporary 'home'.
Mei Li sighed. She had no idea too. She did know several hotels that she used to 'park' the models who came from outside the city but would Ryn agree with any of them? Some were quite on the pricey side while some were on the cheaper side. Which one would Ryn choose?
”Choose somewhere that Jeremy and Mika could not find,” Ryn suddenly added. She took out her phone and stared at the black screen. No one knew what was in her mind.
Mei Li pursed her lips. She was not sure about it. With how powerful the Long family was, it was not impossible for Jeremy or Mika to find her. Where could Ryn live where neither Jeremy nor Mika could not find here? This was a hard task for her to complete.
Ryn glanced at Mei Li and saw the troubled look on her face. Ryn sighed heavily.
”Just send me to the one the agency books for the model,” she said finally. ”The one closer to the agency.”
”Okay.” Mei Li was relieved to hear it. She was still thinking about which hotel to go to when Ryn saved her. She looked at the rear mirror and changed the lane. Now, since she already has a destination to go to, it would not take a long time for them to arrive.
Ryn no longer looked at the way they were heading to. Her eyes were focused on her phone as she chewed her bottom lip uneasily. As she already put her phone on silent, there was no ringing nor any notification sound coming from her phone each time someone calls or messages her. But she knew, oh, she knew, how many calls he made. The black screen suddenly lightened when a call came in. It was him. Jeremy.
With a heavy sigh, Ryn put the phone away and turned her sight to the window, watching the people enjoying their nightlife. This was the best way, her heart whispered. She needed to chase her happiness and by 'running away' she could steal a little bit of time to find the best way.
Actually, if anyone could read Ryn's mind, they would have a huge headache trying to understand her. She loved Jeremy. Her heart even called for his name whether she realized it or not, but at the same time, the traumatic experience of breaking up with him that day made her so scared to believe in him and every other man. She felt like it was not worth it to give her trust and heart to another man because later, she would get hurt again. And she did not want that. Hence, these opposite feelings kept fighting inside and drove her crazy. She wanted him and at the same time, she did not want him. She loved him, and at the same time, she hated him. She longed for him, and at the same time, she wanted nothing to do with him.
Her mother did ask her to think carefully before she accepted him back because she did not want her only daughter to end up like this. But, her mother trusted her to know what good for her.
And Ryn was having a headache due to her own decision. Maybe, she was too rushed when she decided to give another chance to Jeremy.
”Are you sure you're not going to answer that?” Mei Li asked when she noticed the light blinking from Ryn's phone before the younger woman kept it in her bag.
”No...” Ryn replied. She crossed her arms and rested her head against the cold window. She closed her eyes, trying to 'run away' from this problem.
Mei Li sighed. She guessed after helping Ryn checking into the hotel, she would contact Jeremy to discuss this 'childish' argument. Something so simple but turned into a bigger argument just because of pride. Would these two sacrifice their love because of their pride again?
These two kids seriously needed to sit down and talk things through. They should leave their pride at the door and walk in with a calm heart.
