”Oh,” Jacob simply said. Then he gave the tavern owner a warning glare and said,

Darren frowned. ”Don't put as much salt in the food again. I swear, you put enough salt in your food to salt the sea!”

Bonnie stood there, rendered speechless.

Sometimes he teased her for her stupidity, and sometimes for her terrible cooking skills. All in all, he found a hundred reasons every day to complain about her.

She had asked him to contact his family or friends so that they might come fetch him, but he had made no such move, and clearly, he had neither family nor friends. She was confused.

He was paying her ten thousand dollars per day for her care. However, even if he was telling the truth that he had no one else to look after him, he could surely have used the money to hire a better servant to tend to his needs.

”Peel an apple for me,” Darren ordered indifferently. When he saw her standing there like a salt pillar frozen in confusion, he instantly decided to find something for her to do.

Bonnie picked up an apple, sat beside his bed, and moaned in a low voice, ”Man dies in pursuit of wealth. You are the boss, so you have the final say.”

Darren laughed bitterly. ”So you have finally realized that I am your sugar daddy, huh?”

Bonnie's hands froze as she was peeling the apple. She couldn't help but refute him, ”I was only joking. If I wanted to find a sugar daddy, I wouldn't have turned to someone as mean-spirited as you.”

Darren sneered. ”All men use money to buy a woman, and she is just a commodity to us. Who would pay too much attention to an object?”

Bonnie was stunned and couldn't help staring up at him. ”Do you also see me as an object for you to use?”
