s the ceiling. Without thinking, he abruptly sat up, and a sharp pain shot through his whole body and collected on his shoulder, reminding him of his injury.

”Are you up?” It was a woman's voice. She made her way toward him, carrying cotton swabs and some iodine.

She walked closer, but the light from behind her made it difficult to see her face. All he knew was that she was thin with long black hair. She was beautiful and elegant-looking. Suddenly, Darren was reminded of Rita.

He was stunned. He tried to make out her face, but his vision remained blurry. ”Rita,” he couldn't help but whisper.

”What?” the woman asked, confused. She walked even closer to him.

The woman resembled Rita in so many ways. Out of all the features that the two women seemed to share, the woman's eyes caught Darren's attention the most. However, he soon realized that this woman was not Rita. He knew now that he had mistaken this woman for her. In a flash, the tenderness in his eyes disappeared, and he turned vigilant once more.

He still remembered what had happened before he had fainted. Jacob must be looking everywhere for him now. At this moment, he was not safe. He couldn't trust anyone.

The woman sat down and lowered her head, dipping tweezers into the iodine. Without looking at him, she asked, ”Is Rita a family member? You kept calling out her name in your sleep.”

Darren frowned, struggling to shake himself awake. He stared at her with watchful but gloomy eyes. Then he asked coldly, ”Who are you?”
