Chapter 9: Inside and Out schemes.
Despite hearing what Lu Feng had said, Miss Bai just glared at him and said “Don’t ask about what you’re not supposed to know. And I repeat, don’t touch anything inside, or I’ll chop off your arms.” As Miss Bai turned to walk away, she caught sight of the white cat that was beside Lu Feng. She immediately turned back and stared at the cat.
Lu Feng frantically picked up the cat and laughed nervously. “I found this cat on the roadside, and thought that it seemed kinda lonely, so I brought it back”, he lied.
Miss Bai didn’t take her gaze off the white cat. Although her expression remained calm, she really wanted to pet the cat. Lu Feng understood that and handed the cat to Miss Bai. However, the white cat retreated back into Lu Feng’s arms, seeming as though it didn’t want to leave him.
Miss Bai was a bit disappointed by the cat’s reaction, and she turned and started walking away. As Miss Bai was reaching the ladder, she looked back at Lu Feng and said, “For tomorrow’s wedding, all will be carried out according to my instructions. As long as I don’t permit it, no one is allowed to argue.”
However, Lu Feng’s mind was on something else and he asked “Miss Bai, why do the townsfolk call you fat? Or ugly?” Miss Bai replied coldly “I used to be when I was little. Any other questions?”
Lu Feng just shook his head and said “No.” Miss Bai then turned to go upstairs, soon it was quiet again. Looking at the white cat in his arms he whispered, “You little guy, what a good opportunity, you looked so reluctant.”
That same white cat curled up into a ball, not paying attention to Lu Feng. Helplessly Lu Feng laid down on his bed looking at the ceiling whispered, “Tomorrow will definitely be very lively.” Thinking of this, Lu Feng was excited. After all, he yearned to marry a beautiful girl.(TN: What a lecher) Although his status was just in name only, but he knew it was only a first step. Next time he would definitely capture Miss Bai’s heart.
Lu Feng got excited over the perverted thoughts he had, and fell asleep. Dawn came, and there was a commotion outside of his room. “Who the h.e.l.l is making so much noise…” Lu Feng wondered, still half asleep. Unwillingly, he stumbled out of bed to see what was happening. As Lu Feng entered the courtyard, he saw a crowd of people gathered outside.
At the front of the crowd was Housekeeper Liu and the Bai Mistress. The Bai mistress was smiling, “Young monk, come, change your clothes into this Changshan1.”
He hurriedly interrupted, saying “Mistress, and all of you. I’ll wear these clothes by myself, is that okay with you?” Before Mistress Bai could say anything, Housekeeper Liu glared at Lu Feng and said “Oi, brat! You gotta lot to say don’t you?”
Lu Feng chuckled and said “I’m just used to wearing clothes on my own. I’m not really used to being pampered like this.” Housekeeper Liu scoffed and retorted ”A peasant can never change his lowly ways.” Mistress Bai told him off, saying “Housekeeper Liu, mind your manners.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Housekeeper Liu replied
Mistress Bai then glanced towards the wooden house behind her and smiled. “Did you make this, Lu Feng?” she asked. Lu Feng nodded and Mistress chuckled. “That’s amazing. You can go and change, we’ll wait here for you,” she told him. “I need to change right now?” Lu Feng asked curiously.
“En, after you finish changing you need to go to the shrine to pay your respects. After breakfast, there is still the need to receive guests since there might be some that arrive early. You should mingle and get to know them.” After the Bai mistress finished explaining, Lu Feng became depressed but he had to put up with it due to the marriage. He took the clothes and went into the house.
Looking at the pile of clothes on his bed, Lu Feng sighed, “So many choices, which should I wear.”
All of a sudden, the little white cat which was lying down motionless suddenly stretched out it’s limbs as if it encountered a dangerous monster. Lu Feng suspiciously asked “What happened?”. The white cat eyed the clothes and used it’s claws to scratch the sleeves.
Not long after, each set of clothes had small bags revealed.
Lu Feng suspiciously observed these small bags, “What are these.” When Lu Feng thought of picking one up, the white cat slashed with it’s claws not letting Lu Feng touch it. “What is the matter now.”
The white cat made a gesture, as if it was trying tell Lu Feng something. It then started rolling around on the floor. This bewildered Lu Feng as he didn’t know what the cat was trying to tell him. The cat pulled out the bag of food, and ate the contents. Almost immediately, it spit out a gooey black liquid.
