Chapter 816 I Must Have You (1/2)
”The same is true for you. The man who marries you will be the happiest man in the world. Jesse, are you interested in anyone right now?”
Kirk asked in a concerned tone.
Jade seemed like she couldn't keep it together.
As if right on cue, Kirk joined them. Jade knew that Jesse couldn't distract Zed any longer. So with a knowing smile on her face, she stood up and said to Jesse, ”Jesse, stay here. I'll go and make lunch. Just stay here until I get back. Let's have lunch together, okay?”
”Okay. Thank you, Aunt Jade.” Jesse nodded without any hesitation and beamed with pleasure.
Jade had always liked Jesse. Jesse and Zed used to be inseparable so much, so that their families thought they were going to end up together.
Jade loved Jesse like she was her own daughter.
Much to her surprise, Zed married another woman—Jean.
She found out when she was abroad for a trip which she cut short to come back home—angry and confused.
When Jade saw Jean for the first time, she was disappointed.
Not only was Jean nowhere near Jesse in terms of beauty, her family was also a far cry from Jesse's.
It also didn't help when she found out that they only got married for the sake of a piece of land.
But at the end of the day, she loved her son and she wanted what was best for him. Zed had always been independent even as a child—he knew what he wanted and he knew how to get it.
So even though she didn't like Jean, she had to accept her.
Then, at a party, seeing Jean treat Henry coldly made Jade begin to pay more attention to Jean and find more of her good personality.
As Jean's mother-in-law, she couldn't help but delight at the sight of seeing Jean take her husband's side as opposed to her greedy father's selfish requests.
Soon enough, Jade had learned to accept Jean and she realized that Zed had his reason for choosing Jean, like he always did.
Especially now that Jean was carrying her future grandson, she couldn't help but feel protective of her.
Nonetheless, she still loved Jesse like her own as long as she didn't get in between Zed and Jean.
