44 Now we talk! (1/2)

Gu residence

Ji An left her luggage where Li Wei left it. She held her daughter's hand and head to the big door of the mansion. She presses the doorbell and one of the servants opened the door.

”Who is it?” Madam Gu asked the servant while she walks to the door. To her surprise, it's her daughter with a little kid in her hand. ”Ji An” she uttered in shock.

”Ma... I'm here... With my...” Ji An looked at Sofia ”daughter.”

Madam Gu looked at the child. ”So I'm a grandma now?” she replied with a big smile on her face. She went and hug Ji An, her tears fell as she hugs her daughter. ”I miss you so much. I thought I will never get to see you again.” she held her tight like she doesn't have any plans of letting her go.

Sofia spoke softly with her little voice ”Are you really my grandma?”

Madam Gu smiled and let Ji An go. She then turned to the little girl. ”You are so pretty, you look like your mummy. What is your name sweetheart?”

”My name is Sofia Elise Li. Grandma, you speak English, how so?” she seriously asked.

Madam Gu smiled ”Ahh because When your mummy was little, we live in England. How old are you Sofia?”

”I'm 5 years old. Aren't you going to invite us inside grandma? Can I call you Nana?”

”Of course. Come in. Are you hungry? Do you want something to drink? Are you tired?” she asked while she held Sofia's hand and head inside the house. ”Hurry, prepare some snacks and drinks for my granddaughter. Prepare their bedrooms!” she then looked at her daughter ”You are staying here with us right?” she gave her daughter a very warm smile.

”Ma...” she hugged her mother and tears flow from her eyes. ”Can I stay here for a bit? We have a lot to catch up on.”

The servants followed all her instruction. Two bedrooms have been prepared. Snacks and drinks were served.

”Where are your belongings?” Madam Gu wondered?

”Oh! Their outside, I left them! I didn't know if you will accept us.” she lowered her head feeling ashamed remembering how she behaved last time she was there.

”Someone get their things and bring them to their room,” she ordered the servants. ”You silly girl, you are my daughter. Why will I not accept you?” she smiled at her daughter.

”Ma... Thank you...”

”Where is her... Fath...?” she got cut off by Ji An.

”I'll tell you later. I'll tell you everything. Let's not talk about this in front of her.”

Madam Gu nodded ”Okay. You must be tired, do you want to rest?”

”Sofia, you need to have a little nap. We will go out later. I need to meet someone later for dinner.” Ji An.

”Okay then. Tomorrow let's have our talk.” Madam Gu is a bit disappointed but she respects her daughter's plan.

At the office

They welcomed Eric to the board. They discussed the expansion Cheng Ze proposed. Eric thinks its a good idea. Cheng Ze reminded him about the dinner later. But Eric refused and told him that he just wants to be with his wife and daughter.

At 5:00 Li Wei is waiting for Cheng Ze outside his office.

”Boss there is something you must know.” Li Wei blurted in a hurry.

”Hmm... Let's talk inside. I'm feeling a bit tired.” he walk inside his office.

Li Wei followed him and as soon as the door is shut. ”Boss you have to cancel your business with Mr Watts.”

Cheng Ze looked at him ”Are you crazy? Why will I do that? He is the best person to deal business with!”

”Boss it will bring you trouble! He is bad news! Him and his wife!”

”What are you trying to say Li Wei? Just say it! Damn it!!! You're giving me a headache!” Cheng Ze got frustrated. ”This better be something important!”

”Ji An... She is here!”

His tiredness suddenly vanished and no more trace of his headache ”What do you mean?” Cheng Ze replied as quickly as he could. ”Where is she?” Cancel the dinner tonight and tell me where she is!”

”No boss! Don't cancel! You must go to dinner. She'll come for you!”

”So what is the bad news?”

”She is Mr Watts wife!!!” Li Wei almost shouted. ”Now I know why he looks familiar. There's another thing...” his phone rang, it's his girlfriend. ”Boss I have to take this call it's my girlfriend, I think it's important.”

”Hmm go ahead.” he understood him as his girlfriend doesn't usually bother him at work. 'So his wife is Ji An and they have a daughter. Li Wei picked them up. So where is she staying?'

”Boss I apologise, I have to go, my girlfriend is in a bit of trouble. You have to go to that dinner. You have to! She has a daughter. You must see her!” and he left.

'See them? To kill me more? It's better not to go. They'll be here for a week. I just have to avoid meeting and seeing her.'

Ji An got ready and prepared herself and Sofia for dinner. Eric called her a few times but she didn't answer. She wants to talk to him in person. It's better if he doesn't know where she is.

Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel

Ji An arrived with Sofia. Her mother arranges her car and assigns a driver for her. She held Sofia's hand and went in. The waitress led them to their reserved table.

Ji An thought they must have arrived early. Eric is not there and so as his new business partner.

Sofia asked Ji An if she can go to the toilet. Ji An wants to go with her but little Sofia said she's a big girl and she can do it. The toilet is not that far but she can't see much from where their table is.
