2 Please Donst Give Up (2/2)

The wind kept blowing the rain in the opposite direction against her, as if trying to deter her away from the storm. It was so hard to navigate through the darkness that Lyra was ready to turn around when her eyes widened upon spotting a shirtless man heading straight for the ocean.

Lyra hurried after him, continuously calling his name and praying that he would at least turn around. But no matter how hard she worked her lungs, he didn't seem to hear and only walked further away.

By the time she located him again, he was already at shore.

Lyra's heart almost leaped out of her chest when he stepped into the sea without any hesitation. Thankfully, he stopped before the water went above his knees.

Reaching into his left pocket, he took out a rectangular box. He had carried it with him all along, ready to propose with it when the time was right. But what a fool he felt like holding it at that moment…

With a stretch of the hand, Kurtis hurled the little black box as far as he could into the tossing tides.

He didn't even get a moment to breathe when a small figure ran past him, ready to dive into the water after it. The weather luckily did not affect his reflexes as he caught her arm, pulling her back just in time to miss the wave.

At that moment, he believed his heart would come to a literal stop if his hand didn't catch her in time. The thought of her getting consumed by the ocean was so horrific that he had to take a few seconds to process that what could've happened didn't happen. Nothing before this had ever seemed to scare him enough to feel this way, not even when his family's stocks plummeted.

He shot a death glare at Lyra whose arm he was still holding with an iron grip.

”Are you trying to get yourself killed!?!” he shouted, sounding more worried and angry than he expected himself to be.

No one, not even Angela could fill him with so much rage one moment and send him into a frantic state of panic the next. Lyra was the first for both. All because of this girl, he, who always effortlessly carried himself with calm composure, could be forced to break character.

And now, even under such circumstances, drenched in rain water with scrapes on her knees wearing nothing but his shirt and a torn dress, Lyra was still mumbling about something stupid. ”Please don't give up on Angela,” she kept on saying in between sobs.

Luckily, the island staff arrived shortly and safely transported the two back to the villa.

Kurtis took this time to think things through and ultimately arrived at one conclusion.

As soon as they both stepped back into the warm indoors, Kurtis turned to Lyra and angrily bit out, ”You're leaving first thing when the storm clears!”
