2 Please Donst Give Up (1/2)
When nothing happened after a few seconds, Lyra finally dared to peak open her eyes. Kurtis was still hovered over her, breathing unevenly, but he didn't move an inch.
Though stuck between both his arms, Lyra could tell he was careful not to crush her with his weight. She also noticed that he put more weight on his left leaving his right side less balanced.
It was then that she understood. Kurtis purposely positioned his injured right leg so that if she wanted to escape, she could easily throw him off balance. But why?
Lyra's innocent brown eyes looked at him with genuine concern and not even an ounce of fear.
Kurtis couldn't believe how a girl of this day and age could be so defenseless! He left her so many opportunities to escape and she doesn't take a single one!
He opened his mouth slightly. ”You…need to learn to say 'no',” he wanted to say, but one more look at her shut him up.
Even though they are clearly different people, Lyra still looked so much like Angela that Kurtis just couldn't bear seeing her at all.
Despite his injury, his athletic physique made it easy for him to get off the bed without once making any body contact with her. He unbuttoned his white shirt, placed it gently next to her, andwalked out of her room in large strides.
Throwing on his shirt, Lyra didn't think twice before running barefoot into the hallway. By the time she made it down the wooden staircase to the ground floor, Kurtis was nowhere in sight.
Just then, a loud slam of the door lured Lyra into the kitchen which she remembered had a separate entrance that led directly to the private beach.
Kurtis wasn't there so she leaned closer to the long glass windows, hoping to maybe catch a glimpse. However it was impossible when it was raining so hard. Did he really go out?
”Ms. Angela, you can't go out there! There's a storm!” two maids rushed in after being alerted by the unexpected loud noise.
”Did you see Kurtis?” Lyra asked anxiously, feeling her heart racing.
Both looked at each other and shook their heads.
Without waiting a second longer, Lyra swung open the door and ran out. Immediately, strong pellets of rain poured against her exposed skin and drenched her hair and clothes. In mere seconds, her clothes were soaked down to her under garments as if she just jumped into a pool.
