14 CHAPTER 14 (2/2)

”I know her food preferences.” Ash looked at me questionably.

”We're part of a tight circle in college. And we used to hang out a lot. So that's why,” I answered. He answered me with an ”hmm”, while lightly scratching his chin.

We talked just about our work, Ethan's and Ash's and mine. Ash also told Ethan why he owes me this dinner which Ethan responded with, ”She likes the dark more and she can't say no to food. That's a golden rule.”

When the food arrived, we are plunged to silence. No, I was plunged to silence while the boys continued to chat. I focused eating on my food because it's so damn delicious.

”Is it so good that you can't bother talking to us?” Ash asked in wonder.

Ethan, being the gentleman that he is, answered for me, ”Yes. When the food's to her liking, no one can ever disturb her. No one.” Ash laughed at that. Wait did I just call Ethan gentleman? Yeah whatever. Maybe he still is. Maybe we were just at the wrong time.

I finished eating so satisfied. I smiled and thanked Ash. I also included Ethan, just for the company. It would give a bad impression to Ash if I did not. Ash paid and we went out.

”So guys where do you live? Maybe we could just walk-” And then the skies came crying out on us.

”Nope. Walking is a no.” I immediately answered laughing.

”Yeah. We should just take a cab.” Ethan seconded.

”Oh sky! Why are you so cruel?” Ash cried out.

We hailed a cab and we had the same arrangement as before. They decided to drop me off first. The ride home was a little boisterous, since they were bickering about the rain and its inconveniences.

When I reached my apartment building, Ethan opened his side of the car and helped me out. I waved goodbye at the both of them. I ran all the way to entrance and watched the car speed away.

I opened my room and immediately washed myself. When I finished, I lay in the bed thinking of today's events. Why was Ethan at the school? Was it because of Ash? Or because of me?

My phone suddenly rang, a message from an unknown number. It read:

'Hey Cass! Thanks for today. I can't wait to see your tomorrow. -Ash'

I smiled. I gave my phone number to him at the school, so that we could contact each other if one of us decides to be absent. I was about to reply when my phone rang again. What? Who would call me this late? I checked and there it gave me the answer.

Ethan's calling me.
