When they entered the door, they saw Sister He was busy putting the items in plastic bags into a freezer and cupboard, while Xian Chiahao and Xian An Na played in the living room. One of them was sitting in the kid's chair, while the other was lying lazily on the couch.
Xian Chiahao was playing with the car Jiang Yijun had bought not long ago and Xian An Na casually threw the doll in her hand. She put her doll down and was about to snatch Xian Chiahao's car when he cried out, ”Stop bothering me. I want to play with my car!”
Jiang Ruolan turned around to look at Xian Zihao.
This was the first time Xian Zihao had seen his children since their birth, and his eyes were indeed filled with unabashed joy, but he was in no hurry to walk towards them, and instead, he said with a sigh and laughed, ”They're grown up. The first time I hugged them, they were so small that they looked like two little balls of meat that would crumble with a light touch.”
Jiang Ruolan glanced at him. ”You were the first to hug them after they were born?”
”I didn't know how to hold them when they were delivered to me. It took me half an hour to learn it.” With an embarrassed smile, Xian Zihao walked inside.
The moment he walked towards the children, Xian Chiahao, who was playing with the car, stopped. He raised his eyes and watched an unfamiliar man walking towards him with strange expressions.
Xian An Na took the opportunity to grab the car in Xian Chiahao's hands, then used her chubby little hand to prop herself up on the couch. Just as she was about to hide the car, she stared at a ”man” who suddenly appeared before her.
The two little things had different expressions on their faces. One was shocked, the other curious; both their eyes stared at Xian Zihao with wide eyes. Jiang Ruolan suddenly began to laugh.
When he finally got close to the two little things, Xian Zihao, who was always calm and steady as Mt. Tai, seemed not to know what to do. He just squatted next to the few pieces of foam bricks and looked at his children.
When Xian An Na's drool almost dropped on the car in her hands, Xian Zihao stretched out his hand towards them with a touch of nervousness and caution, ”Come, let daddy hug you.”
Jiang Ruolan stood in the doorway, unable to see Xian Zihao's facial expression as he faced the children. Still, she thought that he must be very happy, like how she always looked at these two naughty little things.
No matter how naughty they were since at a young age, she felt incomparably satisfied.
Xian An Na was drooling as she stared at Xian Zihao, who was holding out his hands to her brother and herself. She was just curious a moment ago, but now her eyes widened as if she saw an alien invading Earth. She mumbled a word after a long time, ”What?”
Jiang Ruolan clearly saw Xian Zihao stagger and almost fell to his knees. She immediately covered her mouth with her hand to stop the laughter from coming out.
”Mommy!” Xian Chiahao's eyes that were on Xian Zihao, automatically shifted to Jiang Ruolan. He waved his chubby hand to her, then propped himself up with his hands on the floor as he stood, walking barefoot on the foam bricks on the floor. He completely ignored the ”unknown man” in front of him and held out his hand towards Jiang Ruolan. ”Mommy.”
Jiang Ruolan walked towards him, but she didn't pick him up. She knelt beside Xian Zihao and pinched Xian Chiahao's chubby face. ”Chiahao, be good. This is your daddy.”
Although the past has turned to smoke, Xian Zihao's inability to be close to his children was partly due to her. She couldn't bear to see her husband being bullied by two mischievous little things.
Jiang Ruolan held Xian Chiahao's body with one hand and turned his body sideways, making him look at Xian Zihao. ”Listen to me, this is your daddy. Go, hug him.”
Xian Chiahao turned to look at Xian Zihao. Xian Zihao clapped his hands at him before spreading his hands, signaling for him to come.
