4 So, I died without telling her (2/2)
Without hesitation, he took a rock and threw it on one of the creatures. Before the rock touched the creature, it disintegrated into millions of pieces but Francis used it as a diversion to land in a kick. As the other creature realized what was happening it tried to raised its hand to assault Francis but a tiny hard object hit the creature attracting its attention away from him.
The four people who were being assaulted by the shadows were Madel, Henry, Cheska and Helen. They had been friend for quite a long time now. Henry was the strongest student in the academy, even stronger than some of the professors.
While Madel, was the weakest living being who ever walked the planet, Cheska was the strategist and Helen was the charmer. Helen was not that beautiful but her amiable personality and interpersonal skills are rare talent. Before losing his consciousness, Henry was startled to see that Madel stood rooted unaffected by the spiritual power of the shadows in front of them. He knew his power well.
He can be on par with the teachers when it comes to spiritual powers but he was still suppressed with the overwhelming darkness which surrounded them. Madel having no zhenqi, no clan to nurture her, and no money was the weakest of them all.
He was sure that her weak constitution would immediately crumble under such offense but to his surprise and even horror, she remained standing and holding his hands.
He felt her grip tightened when he was about to fall. She kneeled as he fell on the ground and assisted him to stand up again. While Madel continued to look at the shadows. Henry stood fixated while looking at her with surprise. Before he could look in front, the stone thrown by Francis crumbled on the side of the shadow and a man suddenly appeared out of nowhere trying to land a kick.
Madel also started moving. She released his hand and pick up stones. Everything happened in a flash. He wanted to witness the battle but he fell unconscious.
The shadows were surprised because someone could touch them like they have a physical body. They were injured. Madel flicked her fingers and a bow and arrow appeared. She shot at the shadows without hesitation. The split of seconds gave the shadows enough time to dodge.
They moved closer to Madel but another kick landed on the shadows throwing them against the wall of the nearest building. Madel shoot another arrow and pinned the shadows on the wall. The shadows had their eyes widened in disbelief.
They were affected by the man's kick and physical arrow. If they did not dodge earlier and relied on their non-physical existence, they could have been dead already. As another batch of arrows approached them the shadows used their whole power to break free, but to no avail, the incoming arrows pierced their core and they breathed their last.
Francis, did not know the nature of the shadows so he thought that everything was normal. As he tried to walk out of the scene his vision blurred. When he touched his body he felt a warm fluid in his hands.
”when did I got injured?” he mumbled to himself as he finally collapsed. The next moment, he found himself in an unfamiliar room with rows of bed.
