14 Chapter 11: The Demon Lords Dungeon (2/2)

Carefully looking at it, it resembles a balloon that is filled with water, but without the knot. A small orb is contained at the center, slowly drifting inside its body. The yellow color gives a vibrant feel to it as it emits sparks from all over its body's surface. I was expecting a face or something but there're none, even eyes.

But looking back at its skills, I guess it won't acquire the Perception skill if it did already have a way to perceive, huh?

That means, only monsters that have no way of perceiving things (like me and this slime) will receive the Perception skill.

And also, another realization from that is, Skill acquiring have certain requirements. Not just from the required actions to be done, but also physically. If the body doesn't meet the requirements of the Skill, it won't be acquired.

Then comes the question…

Why can I acquire almost any skill? I even don't have the necessary percentage of C.Manipulation. But still, I acquired a magic skill. Also, I'm a ghost or an apparition type that has no physical body, yet I acquired the skill Strike.

Hmm…

I could only guess, but for the magic skills and other stuff, it's because I acquired them through Soul Consume, which is usually not done by the monsters.

Still, I'm not sure about why I got the Strike. It was a skill that I got without using Soul Consume.

… Interesting.

<Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 1 skill acquired>

Oh hey. I gained a skill from the continuous barrage of Zoia magic skills. I think a few minutes have passed since I began pondering about things.

This slime has its stuff together. Even though its attacks was being reflected to it, because of its Regeneration skill, it's just recovering its HG.

Alright. Let's counter.

Mr. Ghost dashed towards the Slime!

The speed and strength of the attack caused the slime to splat upon contact! What a sight to behold…!

… Enough jerking around.

It looks like it was ineffective, as expected. It has Strike Resistance, after all. But it took a bit of a damage, though. I have my higher Physical Attack against its Physical Defense to thank for.

I used Psychokinesis to tear off a brick from the wall.

Ah right, right. Just a few meters after I entered the dungeon, I reached a distance where the walls and the ceiling is made of coffee colored bricks. They're quite worn out perhaps because of the age of the architecture but they still serve their purpose and make a great hallway. The floor, by the way, is made of carved cobblestones.

Then I used Trigger to hit the slime with the brick. I'm surprised by the speed of the trajectory, though. This skill is awesome.

It was a direct hit. The brick blasted its body, scattering the viscous liquid on the floor and the walls. However, the scattered remains slowly gathered in one place, where the small orb is, and returned to how it was before.

Looking at its HG, again, it only decreased by a few number. Hmm… I see. That means, the attack that I use with Psychokinesis is categorized as physical attacks.

Hm, plausible. Since I use it to smash things to an opponent, or the opponent to something, it's considered as a physical attack instead of magical. That also means, this skill doesn't use Crysaztel to attack. It's a natural ability of a Poltergeist. Alright, alright. Now, it's clear.

While I was thinking about stuff, the slime recovered back to its perfect state. Its HG also recovered. I just wanted to try it out, anyways. It's not really a problem.

As for me, I don't have any magical attacks so there's no way for me to defeat it fair and square.

That's why, I'll use Psychokinesis and manipulate the air around it. I can't manipulate animate or organic objects. But it's not like I can't control the space around them. Mufufu.

I just realized it earlier though.

There!

Splat!

And again!

The slime's body was smashed against the wall and to the other. Its HG decreases but it wasn't enough. I guess I really need to deal with that small orb or else, it will just regenerate again.

Uh… Hold on.

Did I go too far…? Let me make it clear, I don't enjoy destroying stuff and hurting people, okay? This is only for self defense…!

I… Now, I feel sorry about it.

Sh-Should I leave it and proceed?

Hm. Alright. Let's do that.

*zap!*

Hmhm. It doesn't have any plan to let me go, though.

Alright. I want to respect that fighting spirit of its. I'll face it with my all.

Come, Slime!

I got another brick from the wall as it continues to attack me Zoia magic relentlessly. I used Trigger to push the orb out of its body. I move it towards me and used Soul Consume. The liquid that was about to rush towards the orb suddenly stopped in its track and fell down to the floor like a water splashed all over it.

It really was its weak point, huh? Way too cliché.

That was a good fight, Slime!

And, the acquired skills are…?

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Liquid Body) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Sticky) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Devour) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Regenerate) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Zoia Magic Lv. 1) acquired>

<(Zoia Magic Lv. 1) merged with (Zoia Magic Lv. 4): Level Master gained>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Iron Stomach) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Perception Lv. 1) acquired>

<(Perception Lv. 1) merged with (Perception Lv. 6): Level Mastery gained>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Detect) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 1) acquired>

<(Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 1) merged with (Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 1) resulting to: (Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 2)>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Pain Resistance Lv. 1) acquired>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Slash Resistance Lv. 1) acquired>

<(Slash Resistance Lv. 1) merged with (Omni-Physical Damage Resistance Lv. 1): Level Mastery gained>

<Due to the skill Soul Consume: (Strike Resistance Lv. 1)

<(Strike Resistance Lv. 1) merged with (Omni-Physical Damage Resistance Lv. 1): Level Master gained>

Aside from the usual Skills that I already have, the rest are quite weird.

Maybe it's like Intangible, Pain Resistance, and Trigger Fear for Apparition type monsters. Then for slimes, it's Liquid Body, Sticky, Devour, and Regeneration, huh? Quite a lot compared to Orbs and other Apparition types.

Hmhm. I see, I see.

This reminds me. Whenever I evolve, I get skills distinct to that evolution. For example, I got Glow when I evolved into an Orb. Then when I evolved into a Poltergeist, I got the Psychokinesis skill.

I'm guessing here, that there are skills that are distinct or exclusive for a monster specie.

Then comes the question, do monsters really evolve?

At least for me, that's the case. Then what happens when a monster continues to evolve and evolve until it reaches its maximum maturity?

I mean, having different exclusive skills that are distinct to a certain monster, then that makes the monster a mix of different monsters, right? That'd already make them a hybrid, no doubt.

However, from what I've seen so far, it's kind of more plausible that monster usually don't evolve.

Because certainly, I saw monsters… Right, let's say the Poltergeist that I rarely see. They didn't have the Glow skill in them. In which they should, if they evolved from an Orb, using me as a basis.

So they don't actually evolve? That means, they're actually an entirely different specie?

Hmmm…

Or maybe they actually can. But certain conditions must be met for them to do so. Leveling up is number one on that list, for sure.

Well, for these guys who only have low Intelligence Levels, evolving must have never crossed their minds even once, making evolution rare for them.

Since I, who is without a doubt also a monster, can, I'm sure they also can. They just normally don't know how.

Hmhm. I see, I see. A nice conjecture if I say so myself. I want more information to prove it right, though.

Well, there's something I learned from that realization though.

That is…

I'm now a Hybrid.
