49 Chapter 49 – Scheme to kill (1/2)

The crowd cheered when they both went down the arena.

The clan leaders and the crowd were also shocked, and discussing how rare for Zhu Xuan to have dual elemental roots. Even though it is not too rare, it is still something special. Strangely though, elders and clan leaders of Zhu clan didn't look surprised. The other four clan leaders wondered if the Zhu clan already knew about the dual elemental roots of Zhu Xuan.

Zhu clan elders didn't know about his dual elemental roots, but they weren't shocked like the rest. They were surprised for a moment and calmed down because they have expected such a possibility when he revealed his talents the day before in the selections.

The ones who were truly surprised are Zhu Jia Li and Zhu Meiying. Zhu Xuan has revealed he had three elemental roots before but wind element was not one of them. They started wondering ”Zhu Xuan has four elemental roots or maybe he has five elemental roots.”

Lin Xuan's fourth battle was another member from Juan clan who was at eleventh level with metal elemental roots. His attacks were sharp but Lin Xuan used his quick movements and fire Qi to attack from all directions and won his fourth match easily.

His fifth match was against Fang Liang, who was at twelfth level of body purification stage. He is a disciple who had dual elemental roots with fire and metal elemental roots and was expected to be the winner of the selections by everyone.

Zhu Xuan was not worried about Fang Liang; even though he has dual elemental roots, it is metal and fire elemental roots. He could dodge the opponent's attacks using his movement techniques easily, only issue is closing in on him since all Fang clan members are specialized in long range attacks.

Zhu Xuan was also not sure whether Fang Liang practiced any metal elemental defensive technique. He still remembers how hard of a fight he had with blood claw who had practiced metal element defensive technique changing his body stronger like iron.

He also retaliated by using Fire Qi spear and fireballs, but Fang Liang easily defended them and attacked back. He tried using the same method as the last time but Fang Liang anticipated his attacks and moved farther away from his spear attacks.

Fang Liang removed another arrow from his quiver, which had a red tip and bluish shaft. Zhu Xuan and the others thought that this might have been made from a high grade metal than normal steel arrows.

Only the clan leader of Fang clan, Fang Wu Yao was shocked and stood up. The other clan members looked at him in confusion. He couldn't say anything and sat back slowly and cursed inside with confusion ”Why is Fang Liang using Qi amassment arrow in the battle here? I gifted him three arrows for life saving measure not to use in the selections. Did he want to win that badly?”

At the arena, Fang Liang released the arrow and the attack was too fast for Zhu Xuan to dodge and the arrow was heading straight for his head. He was shocked but didn't have time to do anything and put his sword on the path of arrow.

The arrow attack was too powerful, equal to Qi gathering stage practitioner and shattered the sword easily and his whole body got pushed back by the force, flew back and fell down. The arrow drew a cut on the side of his face below his eye, thankfully due to defending of the sword and body pushed back due to the force of the impact, the arrow only graced at the side of his face and didn't cause major injury.

What Zhu Xuan and others didn't know was Qi amassment arrow was made by a special metal which can be used to store Qi of Qi gathering stage cultivator by using an array in the special metal.
