20 Day 96 - 100 (1/2)
[A/N] ”As this is the chapter with Day 100, it will contain a lemon (sex scene) but this scene will not reveal any story details or anything similar. With that said, if you do not wish to read that part, it is marked and can certainly be skipped without repercussions if you so choose. For those that still wish to read it, enjoy.”
- Day 96
After travelling for a short while with directions from Cora, we arrived at Jolden village, named after its founder. It was difficult to get in at first but with Lisbeth and Emery present, the humans in the village relented with their prejudices.
Just looking around at the people staring at us with a mix of curiosity and contempt, it's obvious that this place wouldn't take kindly to the sight of a Siren in the lake they use to go fishing. On the way to the village, I'd managed to collect the spear used to injure the Siren girl so after entering the village, I showed it to the chief in an attempt to find the owner. He responded pridefully, telling me that it belongs to his son who's currently out hunting but would return by nightfall.
I went along with it for now and decided to spend the rest of the day in the tavern, getting to know everyone as best we could considering their apparent hatred of anything non-human. Because of their prejudice, Lisbeth and Emery were the only ones to gain anything through conversations. The rest of us had to rely on our eavesdropping which wasn't that hard. An interesting little tidbit that I managed to overhear is that a few of the villagers planned to kill me and ”free” the human girls tonight. All I can say to that is, ”Good luck”.
About an hour later, the village chief came in and told me that his son won't actually be back until tomorrow morning. I could see it in his eyes, he's in on it too. That's fine. If he wants me to annihilate the whole village then that's fine. I alerted everyone to the human's plan with {Ally Communication} and received an idea from Sigul who didn't want to kill everyone based on a misunderstanding and another from Hazuki who offered a back up plan in case talking didn't work.
I went along with it and rented a room for the night for myself and the others. I had Sigul and Hazuki hiding in the same room as me while Lisbeth and Emery lay in bed with me.
- 97
That morning, before the sun had risen, the humans made their move. Sneaking into my room, one of them raised a knife over my chest before receiving the full force of {Reapers Spiritual Pressure}, freezing him and the other attackers in place in fear.
The human girls woke up and, when seeing what the villagers had planned, Emery was shocked at their stupidity while Lisbeth wanted to kill them. Either way, it should have been obvious that the girls wanted nothing to do with them, however even this didn't get them to back down. They began spewing insults after insults at me, which then shifted to the girls which annoyed me so...whoa whoa whoa, Sigul!
In front of my eyes, Sigul stands with her weapon at the main culprits throat with a look in her eyes akin to a raging animal. I could almost see the bloodlust. On the other side, Hazuki has slit the throats of every other attacker before flicking the blood off her sword and walking over to me, pointing her sword at the currently surviving man.
After some ”Questioning” that Sigul requested she take part in, we found that this had been their plan since the beginning. The village chief and his son are waiting outside for the report so I decided to have a little fun with them.
I inserted a {Parasite} into the man's body, allowing me to essentially mind control him, giving him commands that he was forced to obey. After a few alterations to his body, I sent him out to make his report. Waiting until he was close enough to the two ringleaders, I struck, setting off an explosion from within the parasitised man, covering the two men in blood that began eating away at their skin.
While I was preparing him for his report, I planted quite a few of my blood clones inside of him with the {Burst}, {Corrosion} and {Cursed Wounds} skills that resulted in the scene before us. The writhing, screaming men on the ground outside the tavern doors. Their piercing screams brought out a few curious onlookers who quickly ran back inside their homes and locked the doors when they saw their leaders skin melting and corroding. Puddles of flesh fell at their feet before they themselves, fell dead.
I smiled and looked over to the girls. The two human girls appreciated the fact that I didn't intend to wipe out the whole village because of the idiocy of a few, Hazuki bowed her head before moving to collect the weaponry from the fallen men while Sigul had a smile on her face similar to my own. Perhaps I've been a bad influence on her.
I proceeded to eat the souls of the dead and gain {Job: Fisherman} {Job: Spearman} {Job: Carpenter} {Job: Potter} {Job: Brewer} {Job: Chief} {Luck of the Sea} skills. It seems that most of the people here, other than the chiefs son, weren't actually fighters, which begs the question, why did they think that they'd be able to do anything against us?
By the time dawn began its approach, we had cleaned the room and the front porch of blood and bodies and paid the tavern owner the appropriate amount of money for the stay, which surprised him considering he was the one to give the men the master key. We left the village after informing Cora of the state of the one who harmed her, as well as his compatriots. She seemed satisfied, telling me that she was correct when we first spoke, that they would get what was coming to them one way or another.
I grew curious and asked if she knew this was going to happen all along and she simply responded by saying ”A woman must have her secrets~” I replied by saying ”three things cannot stay hidden: the sun, the moon and the truth.” This is a quote from my world that I believe holds weight no matter what world you might find yourself in. She chuckled and invited me to try to figure it out.
We left the village and continued our journey, coming across a few interesting creatures every now and then in the prairie we traveled through. The first thing we came across was a snake with small horns wrapping itself around the branch of a tree. I had Lisbeth and Cilia take care of them since they were the weakest in the group.
They dealt with them easily and we enjoyed some snake kebab. With this being the first time I've eaten food in the company of others, I must say, it was a enjoyable. I also gained the {Constrict} skill from the bull snake. The smell of the bull snakes cooking brought forth our next encounter. A pack of red coyotes' growling at us from the long grass. I let Dou and Hazuki take care of these little ones while I dealt with the harpies watching us from a distance.
I gained the {Stalker} and {Improved Ambush} skills from the Coyotes' while gaining {Harpy's Cry}, {Claw}, {Kidnap} and {Natural Flight} from the Harpy's. {Natural Flight} unfortunately doesn't give me the ability to fly without wings or anything like that, it just improves my flying ability with skills like {Elytra Generation}, by no means is it a bad skill though.
After some more travelling, I asked everyone where exactly we are which got a few facepalms and shocked looks so I told them that my sense of direction is awful, that is of course, without the use of {Ardent Mind's Eye}. Lisbeth responded by saying that this is the Ivory Savannah, home to many creatures that rely on the long grass to hunt their prey.
I asked her about the kinds, excluding what we've seen already and she replied pretty quickly. She began explaining as we passed, and ate a few of, a creature called Buffalaunt, a strange herbivore that gave me the skills {Horn Charge} and {Taunt}.
Eventually, we came across a small lake that provides us with some supplies, mainly water, and we quickly moved on. As we continued, Lisbeth eventually informed us of two creatures that roam this place. The one that rules the savannah, the Ivory Wolf, a bipedal, humanoid Wolf made of bone the colour of Ivory. It's said that it's capable of competing against a jade eagle in terms of its speed while it's many, sharp, jutting bones will rip anything to shreds. The one that rules the skies on the other hand, appears to be a creature similar yet different to a Wyvern, with hard, white scales, teeth that can tear through anything and piercing blue eyes.
Everyone shuddered at the thought of facing such creatures but my response shook them from this.
[Kei] ”Alright, it's settled.”
[Cilia] ”I take it we'll be avoi-”
[Kei] ”We're going hunting!”
Everyone's silence is eventually broken when I snap my fingers in front of their faces, bringing them back to this world.
Synthesis Results:
{Horn Strike} + {Horn Charge} = {Fury Horn}
- Day 98
We've managed to travel a fair distance and come across a few monsters every now and then but none offered any new skills unfortunately. Eventually, we reached an area with massive, dilapidated skeletons lying in and around the area.
This has to be it. I mean, sure it's a little cliche for a monster made of bones to live in a bone graveyard but it's useful for anyone looking for it. After telling the others to keep their distance, I began my approach on foot. The old bones being crushed beneath my feet with every step really added to the ambiance of the place. A real ”Boss Lair” kind of atmosphere.
As I'm thinking that, a low growling echoes off of the skeletons. I activate {Ardent Mind's Eye} which shows me the area and I manage to see the blur of a creature in one of the mammoth-like skulls. Focusing my sight, I'm able to get a good look at it as it darts around the area.
It's body appears to be made completely of bone with canines as large as it's head, standing on two, powerful, armoured legs and true to the previous description, it has razor sharp bones jutting from its spine, arms, legs and tail.
As it leaps to attack me from behind, I activate {Divinely Forged Body} and {Fire Body} to counter the blow, however the creature seems to have some iota of intelligence and jumps back from me. I suppose it saw me as an easy target before and now that I've shown it some skills, it's reevaluating me. It's glowing red eyes stare at me before it shifts its gaze up to the sky and howls.
The Howl seems to pierce the clouds as a shadow descends from the heavens, revealing the Ivory coloured Wyvern. These guys are working together? Fine by me, I wanted a chance to try out the project that almost killed me. Opening a large black gate behind me with {Inter-Dimensional Storage}, I release my creation. The {Undead Wyvern} screeches as it bursts forth and flies straight for the flying beast, once again leaving me to face off against the bipedal bone wolf by myself.
Knowing that this creature is intelligent, I turn off {Fire Body}. This causes the wolf to get into an attacking position, seemingly understanding my intentions. I want a good fight and I can tell it does too from the look in its eyes. I activate {Calamity Goliath's Speed} and dash forward as the wolf does the same. We clash multiple times with enough force to shake the ground beneath us before I slam a {Sundering Strike} into its face and it does something similar to me.
We both fly backwards, bouncing along the ground as we do before regaining our footing. My {Extreme Regeneration} kicked in since, when the wolf punched me, he had extended his claws to stab through my cheek. It hurt but thanks to {Extreme Pain Tolerance}, the Pain was lessened to the point where I barely felt it.
I let a smile cross my face as a wolfish grin crossed the creatures'. I activate my {Living Magma Armour} exoskeleton and charge in once more. We clash once more and I can feel my armour cracking under the weight of its blows as its bony body does the same. I decide to try {Ash Breath} and let loose a flammable smokescreen from my mouth, hindering its sight before immediately lighting it up with {Fire Manipulation} while we both remain inside.
The explosion rocks the landscape as the wolf is thrown out. The smoke clears from the site of the explosion to reveal me, standing there with flames covering my body. Looking at the wolf, it appears that it's bones have been charred slightly but they're healing rapidly. It charges again but this time, illusions of the creature begin to appear around me, surrounding me from all sides. Two can play at this game. I use the {Moon Magic} Spellto create multiple, incorporeal copies of myself to confuse the foe.
It takes the bait and takes out multiple illusions before finally attempting to strike the real me. Our hands become interlocked as we both struggle to dominate the strength of the other. Even with {Calamity Insect's Grip} and {Constrict} I'm unable to break the tie, unfortunately for it, I have the synthesis skill. Using this, I combine the two skills to create {Calamity Constriction} and my grip gains strength.
I can feel it's bones cracking under my strength before it falls to one knee as I use all my strength to destroy its claws before kicking it square in the jaw, sending it soaring across the landscape and crashing into the mammoth skull.
Looking up to the sky to see how my Wyvern is faring, it seems to be pretty even as well. It's caustic breath has eroded enough of its opponents tough scales for it to bite down hard, prompting an Earthshaking roar from the flying beast. The Ivory Wyvern manages to release itself from my creation's grip and slam it with its tail, gaining some distance from the monstrosity.
I'm unable to watch the surreal scene anymore however, as {Intuition} alerts me to the incoming, pissed off wolf man. Having taken on a much more feral appearance and gained more speed and, probably, more power than before, it reaches me in an instant, Slashing at me with its powerful claws consecutively and landing each one. It finishes its onslaught with a powerful roar that pushes me back, barely able to keep my balance.
My exoskeleton is trashed, as are the clothes covering my torso, my skin is in tatters and my eyes have been gouged out. Removing the remains of the clothing on my arms, my {Extreme Regeneration} kicks in once more and brings my sight back just in time to see the beast appear in front of me again. I'm able to react this time and land a powerful punch to its face with a combination of {Invisible Strike} and {Sundering Strike}. Both fists reach their marks but this time, I grab ahold of the beasts arm and tear it off with {Claw}. This attack tears trough its bony shoulder and rips off my own hand.
It howls in pain and backs away but I'm not done yet. I push my remaining palm out in front of me and charge up aspell. Activating the spell, it launches the wolf back and destroys the surroundings. Somehow, hitting it with a rank 3 chaos spell wasn't enough to finish it off, only managing to split the bones across its chest and face as it stands back up a few hundred metres away.
This does give my arm a chance to regenerate however, and the beast tries to do the same. Unfortunately for it, when I slashed at it with my {Claw} skill, I'd also used {Inhibit Regeneration} slowing its healing ability to the point where it's almost nonexistent. The wounded beast snarls at me before going into a rage. The ground shudders under its roar and bones begin sprouting from beneath the ground. I manage to avoid them by using {Wind Walker} to leap through the air and {True Earth Manipulation} to cancel out the spears of bone.
The maelstrom of bones weren't all avoidable as a few pierced my body in negligible areas before one final Howl from the beast resulted in a massive bone spiral ascending towards the sky from beneath me, catching me in the chest as it rotates into the air. As I lay atop the spiral of white bone now being dyed with my red blood, I decide to try out the rank 3 version of ; . The orange lightning falls from the sky and strikes me, obliterating the bone spire and freeing me as {Advanced Lightning Tolerance} and {Lightning Manipulation} kick in, preventing me from being harmed by my own magic.
One strange thing that happened at this point, is that {Child Of Chaos} seems to have activated by itself, prompting the Lightning encasing my body to go wild and scar the landscape. With the lightning enhancing my speed, I appear in front of the wolf and point both of my palms towards it, sending every ounce of the lightning towards it. The blast echoes across the savannah and chars the land itself as the graveyard gains another victim.
Moments later, the sound of something crashing to the ground behind me reaches my ears. Turning around, I see the corpse of my Undead Wyvern in shreds. The Ivory Wyvern gazes down at me with a condescending stare, as if believing I used all of my power in the battle with the wolf. I smiled, admittedly sadistically, and used {Ally Communication} to tell the others to head for the next city by themselves before activating {Feral Mind}. After that, my mind went blank, the battle overtaken by pure, feral instinct.
