30 Chapter 30 – The Mage class (1/2)

Adam wanted to console her. He wanted to give up the pretence and let her be able to show her sorrow rather than bottle it up. He wanted this even if it meant that her secret would be exposed.

These were the irrational thoughts that crossed his mind when he saw the sorrow in Luna's eyes.

He thought of it but he wouldn't do it. If he did, he would only endanger the life of this girl. This was the last thing he would let happen.

”I can't guess. Tell me.” He played along with this brave girl. He had noticed how much hope she had been given when she found out all seven elements could provide a special constitution.

He couldn't begin to comprehend how hurt she was at the moment. She wasn't like him who did not have any negative views towards the element of darkness.

Elaine had grief all over her face. Unlike her sister who kept a straight face. She was the one who went through everything with her sister. She knew exactly what she was feeling. Fortunately, Mrs Bren was behind her and could not see.

”Mage class with the element of wind. Just as young master and Mrs Bren had predicted.” She widened her smile but the look in her eyes remained unchanged.

Adam sighed inwardly. She had the element of darkness and this was a scar that wouldn't easily heal. She would face many challenges in the future as well because of her element.

Her choice of declaring the wind element was a smart one. Yuki had warned them that the best choice would be to completely hide that she had a special constitution. The darkness element was seen as cursed whereas the light element was seen as blessed.

If she declared the light element, she would gain fame and be put under a spotlight. For someone in her position, this was a disastrous outcome.

”Congratulations you two! You are now official adventurers! Come here and take these two recording crystals from me.” Mrs Bren's joyous voice broke the solemn mood that was hovering around the trio.

The two girls regained their composure and then walked to her. They were both handed a crystal each.

”Your young master can explain to you how they work since he has already used one.”

”Thank you, Mrs Bren.” Both girls said respectfully.

”Mrs Bren isn't the Guild master going to interview them?” Adam asked puzzled.

”Oh no, of course not. He is a very busy man you know? It was just a special case for you since he had wanted to see who he was giving the token to.” She replied.

”I see. I had wanted to inform him about these two. I wondered if it was alright for me to take them into the dungeon?”

”That should be fine since you already have the token. I will also inform him about this just in case. Don't worry about it. As long as you don't misuse it, I am sure the Guild master will not revoke the token.” She smiled. She was very satisfied with how considerate this young boy was. Kids his age would not worry about these things.

”Oh and also… Ard, the man in black armour is holding onto your reward for the three goblin corpses you slew last time. Make sure you collect it from him. I also heard that you came out looking quite 'unique'. Make sure to not overdo it okay?” Mrs Bren had always been very kind to him. Since she had been dealing with him for years now.

”I shall go collect it the next time I visit the dungeon and I'll try my best to stay safe. Thank you again, Mrs Bren.” He nodded his head in gratitude.

”Oh also, you three can go back now. Fen said that she will be spending the next few days reading through our archive for profession classes. It is quite a lot to read after all. She said she will leave and be back in time for dinner today. She also gave a special message for the two little ones to take good care of the young master in her absence.” She said in her active voice that betrayed her age.

”We will.” The two girls said.

”Alright. I guess we will leave for now then. Goodbye Mrs Bren, I hope you have a great rest of the day.” The two girls bowed to her as well.

”You too.” She smiled and replied.

”Let's go.” Adam didn't say much but he offered his two hands forward in front of the girls.

Elaine instantly grabbed his hand while Luna was stunned. She had a very rough day today and now she was finally given a ray of hope. She looked at his outstretched hand like it was the spider's thread that would lead her out of her hell.

She slowly took hold of his hand and interlocked fingers with him, just like her sister had. The warmth coming through his hand reassured and comforted her hurting heart.

'It is good enough that I have him. He is willing to keep me by his side even though he knows I will bring him trouble. I never thought that we sisters would find someone like this. I only hope that this is not a dream.' Luna thought to herself. Elaine on the other side had similar thoughts.

While the girls were lost in thought they were led out of the guild building toward the lodge.

The girls came back to their senses only after arriving at the lodge.

Luna by now had completely forgotten her earlier sadness. She was happily holding onto Adam's hand as he inquired about Yuki's whereabouts from a few girls in the lodge.

”Young master, the mistress has sent word. She says that she will be busy for another hour. She has asked you to wait patiently in your room. She says that you can begin your training for the day if you wish to do so.” A girl with pudgy cheeks reported very respectfully to Adam.

”Thank you for the hard work, big sis. I shall be leaving then.” As he finished he turned around and walked toward the direction of his room.
