34 City of Ravens 20 (2/2)
Fast like a wind I moved running from the collapsing tunnel, soon I passed by the crossroad, the left was a dead end, and on the right, I would need to crawl through a tiny tunnel... I had no choice but to go through the middle tunnel!
When I passed about fifty meters into the tunnel the trembling of the ground subdued and died down. Sitting on the floor and breathing heavily I looked at the mountain of rocks blocking the way out.
It was already impossible to go up with the dirt blocking the shaft to the surface, but now it was impossible on top of batshit crazy impossible.
Now there was no other choice for me but to move forward. I knew that there must be another exit, and there was only this way that it could be. Previously when I got here, I found a paw of a Sky Panther and this path was the only way it could've come from.
Going down the path, the tunnel slowly became bigger and more spacious the further I went. Suddenly there was a sharp turn, and into my view, a scene that I won't ever forget came to my sight.
A city starching for kilometers and with buildings rising up for hundreds of meters up, and closer to the center the higher the buildings became with the highest touching the ceiling which was more than 400 meters high.
Standing on the edge of a cliff and looking down upon it I could help but to feel small in front of it. This sight was unbelievable but was more fantastic was the light that was coming from the edges of buildings making the city light up perfectly.
To the side was a small pathway that was leading down to the city. I went down the pathway, slowly making my way downwards.
With the wind I heard something, coming from far away, a low scream or a shout. Not human like at all, more like from a wild beast.
With no much other choices I could only continue on, no matter how much disconcerting hearing loud screams of a beast is… there was no other place I could go to. Making my way down I found traces of dried blood and pieces of fungi growing on it.
When I reached the bottom of the pathway, the first buildings came into my sight, and I could help but to feel amazed by them. The walls were fully decorated in sculptures with amazing detail. The edges of the building were glowing in a low greyish color. I couldn't help but touch it, cold feeling traveled up my fingertips.
It was a different material then the rock making up the building, but there was no line connecting the two as if they were blended together.
I went inside the building. With no furniture or any other objects, every room was empty. I went upstairs and looked around but found nothing. I ate some of the dry rations and sat down wanting to rest for a while.
Maybe a few minutes or hours later I got up and started walking down the street with buildings that looked almost identical. Aiming for the highest building which I was hoping had the temple I was the last time at the top.
The buildings started to change the further I went in, white fungi growing on top of them became more and more prominent. More and more of it showed up, at one point obstructing the road, and with my Soul Sword I cut it down when it fell the world shook as the fungi started to convulse.
