66 Day 65: The Scum Is Blamed (2/2)
”Y – ” Elder Ho said as he raised his shaking hand, pointed the man wearing black robe. ”Y – !” he said, then took a deep breath. ”Yu Sheng!” he exclaimed, wide – eyed, as he stared at the prodigal disciple of the sect 15 years ago.
Yu Sheng smiled, then respectfully bowed. ”Greetings, Elder Ho.” He said and stood straight, his hands on his back. ”It's been a long time since we last saw each other...” he said, then grinned.
Elder Ho went pale, still remembered how the other elders that time (15 years ago) died when Yu Sheng's soul 'split'.
”Tsk.” The young man with Yu Sheng clicked his tongue. ”Poser.” He muttered, frowning, as his fingers move mid – air, making Elder Ho puzzled.
Yu Sheng smiled as he turned to the young man. ”I'll let you go, as always, since I can't understand what you said.” he told the young man, his face gentle.
Elder Ho's eyes went wide as he looked at Yu Sheng. That cold – blooded prodigal disciple 15 years ago... now looking at someone as if they're his life's treasure?! he thought shocked.
Before he could process what this means, the young man glanced at him, then curtly nodded.
”Hello.” He greeted, then turned as his fingers moved mid – air again.
Yu Sheng, seemed like he just remembered the elder, turned to Elder Ho. ”Elder Ho.” He called and smiled. ”May I ask where is everybody?” he asked and looked at the empty Mist Peak Palace.
”They went to the East (Newfound Sect).” Elder Ho answered, still looking at Yu Sheng, dumbfounded.
Yu Sheng nodded, then smiled brightly. ”Then – ” he said. ” – may I ask if we could stay here for the meantime?” he asked, then bowed.
Elder Ho's eyes went wide, shocked.
As if not enough, Yu Sheng added. ”I'd like to bring my wife to where I once studied and show him around – ah.” he said then stopped when the young man, whose face is red, kicked Yu Sheng's leg.
Elder Ho's jaw dropped, watching how the mighty disciple in the past get kicked like a sandbag by a young man whose just as ordinary as one can be.
”Who's your wife?!” the young man asked, mad.
Yu Sheng laughed, which added to Elder Ho's shock.
”Of course it'd be you.” Yu Sheng answered.
The young man gritted his teeth. ”I thought you'd help the others fight against the Demonic Sect?” he asked, obviously changing the subject.
This woke Elder Ho.
Yu Sheng raised his brows. ”I'm still recuperating.” He answered. ”Also...”
”'also'?” Elder Ho and the young man asked.
Yu Sheng grinned. ”Just His Highness is more than enough to fight the whole Demonic Sect.” he answered, leaving different reactions from the two who asked.
”'His Highness'?” Elder Ho asked, puzzled.
Zu Zhe grimaced. ”Right.” He said. ”How can I forgot...?” he asked, dark lines covered his face.
He's the one who modified Chen Sheng's character, making him OP – once again, now as Hou Sheng.
Newfound Sect.
”I'll kill you and take back all that's mine - !”
”I only have three words to say to you. I can't die.”
Chen Sheng sighed when he remembered the first time he and Chen Shen met.
Why did I say those words back then? He thought. Was I just thinking I'm a soul that's wandering through worlds, that's why no matter if I'd die, I'd just live to another world? He thought, remembered how he travelled to different worlds.
Or... he lowered his head. He's somewhat aware he's Hou Sheng?
Chen Sheng closed his eyes as he remembered those times he boldly fought against dangers knowing that he cannot die.
True, he relied on the fact he can travel through worlds that when he dies in one world, he goes to another world.
This, he relied on this until he realized he cannot. Cannot rely on this fact since he cannot die anymore, not in this world.
Why...? He thought as he closed his eyes tight, lifting his face to the sky. Why? Why? Why?! Just why do I have to remember those? He thought and gritted his teeth as he balled his fists that's under his sleeves.
Memories are about to flood in his mind when he was awoken by a gentle voice.
”Senior Brother Chen!” Lei Ling called. ”Senior Brother Chen!”
Chen Sheng opened his eyes, then slowly turned. Sure enough, he saw Lei Ling, his smile soft as he looked at him. ”Hm?” he said.
Lei Ling frowned. ”Senior Brother Chen.” He said. ”Just tell me if I bore you with my story.” He said, pouting.
Chen Sheng's eyes went wide, then he laughed. ”Pft – ” he said and looked away.
Lei Ling's eyes went wide.
”Ahahaha! Ahahahahaha!” he laughed, holding his stomach. ”Geez!” he said, wiping his tears as he turned to Lei Ling.
The gentlemen inside turned to them, too, but Chen Sheng doesn't mind them.
”I'm really lucky I have a fellow brother like you - !” he told Lei Ling, then smiled.
Lei Ling's face went red, earning Chen Sheng a glare from Wen Yan, and Lei Ling a glare from Fei Yin.
”Senior Brother Chen...” Lei Ling said, staring at Chen Sheng's smiling face. ”So will you teach me now how to make high – grade talismans?” he asked, excited. He's referring to the talismans Chen Sheng are making.
Chen Sheng automatically frowned. ”No.” he answered. ”That's the only thing that's left as my talent – ” he said.
But before he could continue, Lei Ling laughed loudly.
Chen Sheng's forehead knotted. ”What are you laughing at?” he asked.
”Ahahaha – ” Lei Ling said and wiped the tears off his eyes. ”Senior Brother Chen...” he called, still wheezing because of laughter. ”Finally - !” he said.
'finally'? Chen Sheng thought.
Lei Ling stared at his face. ”Senior Brother Chen...” he said. ”You're back to yourself!” he said, smiling brightly.
Chen Sheng's face froze. The gentlemen inside fell silent, staring at Lei Ling.
”W – what?” Lei Ling asked, suddenly conscious.
But nobody answered. Their gaze turned to Chen Sheng, who looked like he's been hit by lightning. Did... he remember? Everybody thought as they looked at the silent Chen Sheng, anxious.
Chen Sheng lowered his head, then sighed. ”But of course - !” he said and looked at Lei Ling, his face blank. ”Who do you think I am?” he asked, then frowned.
Everybody sighed, relieved, when they saw his reaction.
Lei Ling just laughed. ”Of course...” he said and stared at the face of the senior brother he long admired. ”... you're Senior Brother Chen.” He said and smiled.
Chen Sheng smiled back as Lei Ling let go of his hand.
Chen Sheng's wrist is red. Lei Ling has been calling him for almost an hour earlier, holding his hand, yet he looked like he's in a deep sleep.
Chen Sheng looked at Lei Ling and saw worry crossed Lei Ling's eyes. He smiled at him, reassuring him. ”Don't worry...” He told him, his voice soft.
Lei Ling's eyes went wide when he mouthed his next words.
I'll still be your (Senior) Brother Chen.
The next day.
”Sheng – er.” Xie Lan called.
Chen Sheng turned. ”Yes - ?”
”You can't go with us.” Xie Lan said. Before he could speak, he added. ”You can't go with us when we fight against the demonic cultivators.” He told him.
A deafening silence fell.
