60 Day 59: The Scum Is A Bug* (2/2)

”Where do you think you're going?” the commander asked, his voice deep.

He didn't answer, since he can't answer. He's still being choked.

The commander must've noticed since he let go of him. Peng Yin caught his breath and sighed, relieved. He fell on his hands and knees, breathing heavily.

”I have something to ask you.” The commander said.

He turned, but the commander already went inside his quarters.

Peng Yin took a deep breath and stood up, brushing the dirt off his clothes. He went inside. ”Commander – ” he called and closed the door behind him. He then turned and saluted. ”Sir – ” he said, his word stuck on his throat when he finally see the commander after he turned to him. His eyes went wide and his mouth fell open, shocked.

”What's with that look?” the commander asked, his eyes on the book.

Peng Yin blinked multiple times to check he's not just seeing things. ”N – no... nothing, sir – ” he answered and lowered his head. He took a deep breath before he screamed inside his mind.

Why the hell the commander is Sheng?! He thought, shocked, as he peeked at the sharp profile of the commander.

Although the aura and his face slightly changed, but he is a hundred and one percent sure the commander is Sheng since he can feel Sheng's soul inside the commander's body.

Could it be...? He thought, his face went serious.

”I'd like to ask you if you've seen the face of the one who tried to kill you.” Lu Sheng (the name on his chest) said.

Peng Yin looked at him, shocked. He knows I died?! He thought, horrified. But – he paused. – he said 'tried', so it means – he looked at Lu Sheng, his face serious.

He saluted. ”No, sir.” He answered. ”I was immediately knocked out.” he told him.

Lu Sheng just nodded, then looked at the book he's reading. Peng Yin lowered his hand and stared at Sheng.

Sheng... he thought as he realized their situation. I'm... just a nobody for him in this world. He thought as he saw Lu Sheng doesn't look at him even just a second long. He lowered his head as pain crossed his eyes, his heart aching.

This should be what this is, so that Sheng wouldn't know of the truth – that he transmigrated and is travelling across worlds, like him.

After Lu Sheng killed Gao Tang, the assassination attempts to him and Peng Yin also stopped. And so Lu Sheng assumed it was Gao Tang who really wants to kill them.

As to why, he still doesn't know.

”Where the hell is that damn man – ” Lu Sheng muttered, pissed, and his grip on the book he's reading tightened to the point it was crushed in just a second.

”Commander?” Peng Yin called as he laid down the soup on Lu Sheng's table. ”Is something wrong?” he asked, worried, when he saw Lu Sheng's pissed face.

”Nothing.” Lu Sheng answered and immediately ate the soup.

Peng Yin nodded, then stared at him. Sheng... he thought.

He doesn't know how long he's been staring at Lu Sheng when he felt someone's looking at him.

He turned and looked around, but found nothing. Was that just his imagination? He thought, then frowned. As if. He thought when he saw in the corner of his eyes a pair of bloodshot eyes looking in their direction. That's... he thought, then glanced at Lu Sheng who's reading his book, his other hand on his spoon that's submerged on his soup.

What a carefree guy... He thought and smiled, then sharply turned to the bushes where he saw the pair of bloodshot eyes.

They're gone.

His face went serious. That just now... it was the reason why the commander and his attendant died. The envious traitor of their team – Gao Tang's friend, Ke Cin.

Peng Yin confirmed his thoughts that Gao Tang died when they saw his body together with the other bodies that were eaten by the monsters, that're also lying near their bodies, which is very ironic.

Gao Tang, Ke Cin's friend, is also a traitor. In the original plot, Ke Cin is envious of the protagonist, Ou Mo, and so he egged on Gao Tang, who's also envious of Ou Mo, to kill Ou Mo. Since Peng Yin is, surprisingly, close to Ou Mo, he was killed by Gao Tang. And Lu Sheng, their commander, Gao Tang thought Lu Sheng is favoring Ou Mo, also tried to kill him.

Unfortunately, he (Gao Tang) was also killed by 'Lu Sheng' after Lu Sheng woke up. Gao Tang used poison to kill Lu Sheng since Lu Sheng is far stronger than Gao Tang. But since a new Lu Sheng is occupying the commander's body, the poison could go kiss and say hello to the drain because Sheng isn't affected by any poison because of his soul.

Peng Yin sighed at the thought. His eyes sharpened when he heard a hiss. ”Commander, watch out - !” he called when he saw Lu Sheng's back is on the grasshopper (here we go again) that already crept behind him.

Peng Yin's eyes went wide when the grasshopper (mantis~) lowered its claw towards Lu Sheng.

”Huh - ?” Lu Sheng said and turned. ”Ngh - !” he cried and gritted his teeth when he felt something pierced his leg. He looked down and saw a green claw that passed through his leg.

It withdrew, making a hole on his leg. He fell on his knee. He turned, in time to see the gigantic mantis hissing its tongue on him.

His eyes narrowed and raised his gun, aiming on its mouth. ”You're noisy – ” he said and shot.

”Kaaah - !” the mantis squeaked and staggered back.

”Commander - !” Peng Yin and the other officers called as they ran towards Lu Sheng, shooting the mantis that's running away.

”Commander! Are you alright?” he asked, worried, and knelt down to tie Lu Sheng's leg to prevent the bleeding.

Lu Sheng looked at him as he earnestly tied his leg.

”Aaargh! Kill! Kill that damn stupid grasshopper - !” a soldier cursed as he glared at the half dead mantis beast lying not far from him.

”Yes!” the other soldiers said and rained photon laser bullets to the beast.

”Raaaarh!” the beast roared and died.

Peng Yin lowered his head after tying Lu Sheng's leg. Yes. This is this moment. He thought and looked at Lu Sheng who's eyes wide in shock.

His face went serious. Sheng... he thought and stood up. ”Commander, are you alright?” he asked.

Lu Sheng turned to him, his face still pale. ”Yes...” He answered as he stood up. He winced and gritted his teeth when his leg hurt.

”Commander, you're not fine.” Peng Yin told him as he helped him stand. He wrapped his arm around Lu Sheng's waist, supporting him. ”Commander?” he called, noticed Lu Sheng is silent.

He turned to him. His eyes went wide when Lu Sheng smiled and looked at him.

”I've been wondering where you've been to ever since I woke up.” He told him.

Peng Yin's forehead knotted. ”But, I've been by Commander's side since this morning...” he answered, puzzled.

He clearly remembers he's always sticking to Lu Sheng, either as the commander's attendant or the one who's in love with Lu Sheng.

Lu Sheng nodded. ”Mm. It's just me being stupid to not realize this.” he said, then smiled.

”Huh?” Peng Yin said, puzzled.

Lu Sheng just smiled and didn't answer, making Peng Yin more puzzled. He stood on his one leg. ”I'm already fine.” he told him.

”Eh?” Peng Yin said and blinked, still puzzled by Lu Sheng's weird behaviors. ”But, Commander – ” he said.

Lu Sheng smiled at him and stared at his face, making Peng Yin's eyes went wide.

Sheng... he thought. He's looking at him (Yin) now... he thought, remembered he's (Peng Yin) always treated by Lu Sheng as air. Why is he...? He thought.

Before he could continue his thoughts, they were blown away by just one word (name) that went out of Lu Sheng's mouth.

”Yin.” He called.

Peng Yin's eyes went wide. ”Eh? Commander, you know my name?” he asked, surprised. He... remembers me? he thought, shocked.

Lu Sheng laughed. ”Mm. I should.” He answered. ”You should know my name, too.” He told him.

Peng Yin blushed. This idiot. He thought. Of course he remembers him. Always remember him. He thought. ”Of course I know Commander's name.” he answered, then lowered his embarrassed face. How can I forget him? He never left his mind! He thought, his face went redder. ”It's Commander Sheng.” He said and looked at him, made sure only Sheng's name he said.

Lu Sheng smiled. ”Mm. That's right.” He said and stared at him. ”Yin. You should never forget me.” he told him.

Peng Yin's eyes went wide. ”I won't! I'll never forget Commander!” he answered. I've never once forgotten you. He thought as he stared at Lu Sheng. ”But... why is Commander saying like he's – ” he said.

But Lu Sheng just smiled. Before Peng Yin could finish talking, the damn grasshopper (it's mantis) appeared behind Lu Sheng.

Peng Yin's eyes went wide, shocked. Shit! He cursed, forgotten where they are now and what scene is this.

”Commander - !” he called and was about to hug Lu Sheng when Lu Sheng pushed him away so hard he flew.

Peng Yin's eyes went wide, shocked.

Lu Sheng smiled. ”This is what you should do and not hug me tight so that you could live – ” he told him and smiled as the stupid grasshopper (it's really mantis) lowered its head to Lu Sheng. He took out his gun and sword to kill the grasshopper. ”If I'm going down, you'll going down with me – ” he said and grinned at the grasshopper (mantis) as he coughed up blood because of the poison spreading on his body.

He set the gun on its maximum power and pierced the sword on the grasshopper's (mantis!) mouth before a bright light flashed and the gun exploded when Sheng pressed the trigger.

”Sheng - !!!” Peng Yin screamed, wide – eyed, and cried when he fell on the ground. ”SHENG!!!” he screamed as he stared at the explosion, horrified.

Sheng... you left me again.
