59 Day 58: The Scum Is Caring (2/2)

”What?” He Yin asked.

Song Sheng looked at him. ”I – ” he said, then cleared his throat. His face turned cold but still red, which He Yin found cute. ”You can't kiss me so suddenly.” He said and stood up, away from He Yin.

He Yin looked at him, but Song Sheng looked away.

”You can only kiss me if I want to kiss you.” He said and frowned at He Yin.

He Yin bit his lip to keep himself from laughing. Sheng is still so cute - ! he thought, happy. ”Alright.” He answered in his most serious face. ”When will that be?” he asked.

Song Sheng's face went red. ”When you win against me.” he answered and looked at He Yin, his blushing face serious.

He Yin's smile froze. Looks like it'll be a long while before he could have Sheng's kiss.

Since the north and south part of the country are plagued by the natural disasters, the scientists and researchers could only long for their vacation and day offs. The fate of the north and south of the country, as well as its people, lies on their hands. Now, the east is also plagues, but by epidemic. Since the epidemic's cause is unknown, the elite team – Fourscapes, the backbone of the country's government, is sent to find the cause of the epidemic before it could spread to other parts of the country and affect the west.

- An excerpt from The Disastrous Country: Re-Form

He Yin sighed after he reviewed the latest update of the story. Since the revision of the story is based on what's happening to the story (world) he is in, he could also only wait for the next happenings to unfold before him.

He glanced at Song Sheng who's sitting beside Song Han. He remembers now. Song Han is Ci Han, Sheng's little brother in the previous world.

”We're nearing the borderline.” Song Han said as his eyes narrowed.

There's another cluster of zombies walking around the area again.

”Be careful.” Song Sheng said as the car van stopped and they all went outside. ”Don't let them stick to you. We still don't know how they could infect us.” he told them and went out of the car, carrying guns.

”Yes!” they answered.

He Yin looked at the gun on his waist and held it. Like one of the team's basic training, He Yin undergone shooting and sniping skills, too. He may be average than the team in this area, but he's still far superior than amateurs.

They all shot down the zombies as they approached.

”Go!” Song Han said and waved his hand, signalling them to disperse.

”Yes!” they answered and ran by groups.

They went towards each building and vigilantly entered. The building is so dark and cold.

He Yin is with Bao Tian's group, while Song Sheng is with the other members. Song Han is left with the other members to prevent the zombies from getting out of the area.

”Do you hear something?” one of the team members in Bao Tian's group asked.

”No.”

”What? What is it?” one asked.

”No... I think something's breathing...” he answered.

”Idiot! That's us - !”

”Ah?”

Bao Tian sighed.

”That! You hear that?” another one asked.

”What is it this time?”

”Footsteps!”

One of them frowned and hit the other. ”Idiot! It's us - !” he said, pissed.

He Yin sighed and looked around. The building looked like it's been abandoned for some time now. The windows are broken and the lights are off, only their flashlights are lighting up the dark, cold hallway.

Their footsteps echoing and the dripping water from the ceiling creates an eerie ambiance.

”Nothing will suddenly appear, right?”

”What do you expect?” he asked.

But, nobody answered as they continued to venture the long, empty hallway.

Song Sheng sighed as he shot down an infected member. He can't move his leg since he stepped on a landmine.

Yes. The place is full of traps. He could only hope the others could notice. His radio and communicator can't connect to the others since there's something jamming with their signals inside the building.

Out of Song Sheng's team, all were infected and all were killed by him. Only he is left. Physically, he may be infected. But, his soul isn't.

Since his soul isn't of this world.

”Aia, Yin...” he muttered and smiled as he looked at his veins on his limbs turned blue. ”I hope you could forgive me for leaving before you... again.” he said and smiled bitterly when he saw a scientist come out of his hiding.

The scientist madly grinned. ”Hahaha – ugh!”

Before he could continue his villainous laugh, Song Sheng shot him.

Song Sheng is a no nonsense guy, and so he shot the mad scientist as soon as the scientist opened his mouth. He already knew he'd just madly laugh, since that's what the mad scientists always does, aside from making formulas.

”Doctor!” the other scientists hiding come out, too.

Song Sheng sighed as he dropped his now empty gone. The scientists glared at him.

”Yes, yes. I'm gonna die, anyway, so...” he said and looked at them.

Their eyes went wide when he grinned.

”Yes. I'm choosing death than live my life infected, so... please go die with me – ” he told them and lifted his feet stepping on the landmine.

Their eyes went wide. Before they could change their face to a different expression, something exploded, followed by a series of explosions around the building.

He Yin, Bao Tian and the others turned when the ground shook and they heard explosion.

”What – ” Bao Tian said and they immediately ran out of the building.

The rundown building is about to collapse because of the shockwave from the series of explosions.

”Ugh - !” He Yin cried as they all jumped down from the second floor. ”Oww...” he cried when his butt hit the ground, but not that hurt.

Before they all could ask what happened, they heard a loud cry.

”Sheng!” it was Song Han. ”Sheng!!!” he cried as he fell on his knees, looking at the building enveloped by flames. ”SHENG!!!” he screamed.

Their eyes went wide, shocked, as they were frozen on the ground. ”Instructor Song is...?” they all said, surprised.

Fear enveloped He Yin's body and he can't move. The others already ran towards Song Han to ask what happened, forgetting He Yin is left, frozen not in fear but of shock.

”Sheng is... is...” He Yin muttered, didn't notice a zombie silently crept behind him.

But, before the zombie could reach him, the building finally collapsed and fall on He Yin and the zombie, leaving Bao Tian, Song Han, and the others, shocked.

”Player... player.” A voice called inside his mind.

He slowly opened his eyes. ”I died...” he said.

”Yes.” The voice answered. ”This time, you're a mere cannon fodder unlike in the previous story where you are a supporting character.” It explained. ”It's just a normal thing for cannon fodders to die.” It said.

He didn't answer, remembered the cause of him transmigrating is him taking pity on the soldier attendant cannon fodder. ”... and Sheng?” he asked.

The voice didn't answer.

He gritted his teeth and stood up. ”Why do I feel like you're still hiding something from me?” he asked.

The voice didn't answer.

His eyes narrowed and glared at the numerous words floating inside the room. ”Tell me!” he yelled. ”Is my mission to 'take care' of your 'problem'?” he asked. ”Am I... am I sent to take care of Sheng?” he asked, his voice low. ”Since Sheng is your (system) problem, and I'm here to help you fix the problem...” he said and looked at the numerous words. ”Am I... to Sheng?” he asked.

”... yes.” The voice finally answered. ”You are here for that problem.” it said. ”... you're so slow not to realize that.” The voice told him. As if not enough, it added. ”Tsk. Airhead.” It said.

Dark lines covered his face. The voice of the system just clicked its 'tongue' to him, annoyed. What a mood breaker. He thought.

The author (and He Yin) has something to say:

Gray Dragon: ...

He Yin: go ask now.

Gray Dragon: ... no. I already know you're the gong.

He Yin: ...
