54 Day 53: The Scum Is Transmigrated (1/2)

Fei Yin stared at Chen Sheng's sleeping face. He just sat there beside the bed, sitting on the floor as he watches Chen Sheng sleep.

”Sheng...” he muttered and lowered his head.

After a few minutes, he stood up. He silently opened the door, then went out. He took a deep breath as he looked around the empty hallway. He turned when he heard the water in the pond rippled after a frog jumped in.

A peaceful night like this... but Fei Yin's mind is far from that. He closed his eyes as his clamoring mind drifted to the past, 15 years ago, when he transmigrated.

Yes. He transmigrated, but not in this book, but... to a different book (world). It all started with just one sympathetic comment after he read the latest update of a webnovel he's reading.

Yes, I'm reading a webnovel. He thought as he reread the update for nth time.

”Kill! Kill that damn stupid grasshopper - !” a soldier cursed as he glared at the half dead mantis beast lying not far from him.

”Yes!” the other soldiers said and rained photon laser bullets to the beast.

”Raaaarh!” the beast roared and died.

”Commander, are you fine?” the soldier attendant asked his commander, concerned.

”Yes.” The commander answered as he stood up. He winced and gritted his teeth when his leg hurt. ”Come on. Let's round up – ” he told his attendant.

He still hadn't finished his sentence when the attendant looked behind him, horrified. ”Commander - !” the soldier attendant screamed and jumped on the commander just on time when, in the corner of his eyes, he saw a sharp, big object aiming on his head.

It was the damn monster's claw. Before he could close his eyes, the sharp object pierced him and his attendant.

He sighed when the chapter ended.

”President?” a female voice called.

He turned.

She bowed, then smiled. ”The guests would like to speak with you.” She told him.

He nodded, his heart still heavy, and stood up. He followed his secretary and she led him to the meeting room where the guests are waiting for him.

They all stood up when they saw him entered. ”President Jiang!” they all greeted, then bowed.

Jiang Yin just nodded and sat on the chair. They looked at him when they saw him silent.

How can he not be silent? He thought. His favorite character, although a cannon fodder and he already expected that that cannon fodder will die, still really died. That soldier attendant is the most kind – hearted character he has seen that that cannon fodder even more deserving to be the MC rather than the MC himself.

He sighed, then looked at his guests. ”Let's start.” He told them.

Seeing Jiang Yin, the president of the company, is in the mood for the meeting, they all nodded and fixed themselves.

”Yes!” they answered.

After the meeting, Jiang Yin immediately ran back to his office, much to his secretary's amusement, and immediately reread the update again.

His secretary, though her president is a well – known businessman, knew that her boss is actually a webnovel addict.

Jiang Yin sighed after reading. No matter what, cannon fodders really have to die for the sake of the protagonist. Even the commander the soldier attendant saved still died, since he's also a cannon fodder.

He frowned, then logged on to his account on the website. He clicked the 'comment' button and his fingers started to move fast.

”I really feel pity for the soldier attendant. He desperately tried saving his commander, yet his commander still died. But, guess I'd be happy for him, since he died with his commander on his arms. Such loyalty... praise for the most loyal soldier.”

He clicked the 'post' button. As soon as he saw his comment on the page, the words on the screen swirled like a vortex.

Jiang Yin's eyes went wide, shocked. But before he could react, the words popped out of the screen and clung to him.

The next second, he was sucked inside the computer.

”'cuse me. 'cuse me.” a voice called and he felt somebody shaking him.

”Mnn...” he groaned and slowly opened his eyes. He felt like he rode a one – hour roller coaster ride. Believe me, you wouldn't want that. He thought.

He turned his head to the direction of the voice. He saw a woman.

”What - ?” he asked.

”You're squashing my laundry.” She answered and pointed the baskets beneath him.

He looked down, then saw bundles of clothes neatly stacked. His eyes went wide, surprised. He turned when he heard running water.

Sure enough, they're beside the river.

”Wha – ” he said and immediately stood up when he saw the woman is now glaring at him. ”Where...?” he asked as he looked around.

They're surrounded by mountains.

”Are you gonna move or what?” he heard a woman asked.

He turned.

The woman is scolding a child. ”It's been hours yet you only moved two baskets!” she yelled on the child.

The child looked up. ”But... they're heav – ”

Before the child could continue, the woman slapped him. His eyes went wide, shocked. But, what's more shocking was that the child didn't cry. In fact, there are more bruises on his arms.

He's all black and blue.

”You damn vermin!” the woman yelled. ”Get out of my sight! I'm just good on you since your mother that left you is a friend. But, I'd never thought you'll be like this - !” she said.

The other women washing their clothes on the river watch them.

”Scram!” she yelled at the child.

The child didn't answer and just lowered his head as he walked away, staggering. His eyes narrowed when he saw the child's knee is scraped and is bleeding.

Without taking a glance at the women, he followed the child.

”Hey.” he called as he looks the child's small back. With a closer look now, he saw the child's clothes are dirty. ”Hey.” he called again when the child didn't answer.

”Even if I'm an orphan, I don't like to talk to a crazy man.” the child said, not turning to him.

”'crazy'?” his eyebrows raised. I'm crazy? He thought, surprised.

This time, the child turned. He held his breath when he saw the child's face. Rosy, plump cheeks. Thin, pouting lips and round, hazel eyes...

But, all that good looks are for naught since the child is dirty.

”Yes.” The child answered and his cute, small finger pointed him. ”Gao Yin. The famed crazy man because his family was killed.” He said, his face blank.

”Ah?” he said. But, the child never said anything and continued walking, leaving him alone on the busy street.

No one is sparing a glance at him. His hair is disheveled, his clothes are torn at the edges and he's even dirtier than the child. He just noticed this now since he's busy looking at the child.

He looked around. ”From being a president of a multi – national company down to being a crazed man... have I done wrong and my secretary has to throw me to the end of the world because of shame?” he asked as he continued walking.

No one answered, except one. And that's inside his mind which made him jump in surprise.

”Don't worry. Your company is safe and sound.” A voice told him inside his head.

”Holy sh - !” he exclaimed, then covered his mouth as he looked around. But, since he's a crazy man, nobody was surprised when he yelled. He frowned. ”What the hell...” he muttered.

The voice responded. ”Greetings. This will be our first contact, player.” It said.

”'player'?” Gao Yin thought.

”Yes. You are a player after the system pulled you into one of the stories online.” It answered. ”Like in games, a player will be given a mission.” It explained.

”Wait, wait.” Gao Yin said. ”First of all, you pulled me from my world without giving consideration to my feelings. Two, you did it for some unknown reason. Three, now you're telling me I'm going to do something?” he asked, disbelief.

”Yes.” The voice just simply answered.

A vein popped in his head. ”Hey.” he called, gritting his teeth.
