53 Day 52: The Scum Decides (1/2)
The talk with the leader of the Newfound Land's citizens took hours the moment it finished it is already twilight.
After he repeatedly asked what're they going to do next and Fang Wen repeatedly assured him they'll definitely find the culprit, the leader would still stay longer had not Xie Lan smiled sarcastically, indicating he's about to snap.
Ming Ye and Luo Shi had to butt in, making the leader discreetly leave.
They're now all settling down to retire for the night. Since there're many guests, they all had to stay in a room by pair, to which the majority of the guests' enjoyment.
When Chen Sheng's about to raise his hand and object, Fei Yin stopped him.
”What's the matter, Brother Fei? You've got something against on my hand?” Chen Sheng asked and looked at Fei Yin holding his hand.
He immediately pulled it back.
Everybody looked at the two who are at it (arguing) again. They all silently retreated, doesn't want to watch the two fight and get caught in it. They all already knew Fei Yin loves Chen Sheng and publicly confessed again and again, yet Chen Sheng also publicly rejects him again and again...
And again.
Chen Sheng looked at them all blankly, indicating they all betrayed him. He coldly looked back at Fei Yin who obviously he's forced to room with.
Fei Yin smiled. ”What about you, Brother Chen?” he asked. ”Why are you raising your hand? You want to object?” he asked.
”Obviously.” Chen Sheng answered.
Fei Yin's smile faded. ”You hate me that much?” he asked.
Chen Sheng nodded. ”En.” He answered. Isn't that obvious? He thought, but kept it to himself. ”Enough to make me choose to sleep with Xia Di in the wilderness than room with you.” He told him, then walked out.
Fei Yin's face went dark as Chen Sheng left him speechless. The others who actually didn't leave and just silently hiding as they watched the two now looks at Fei Yin, pull of pity since they already expected Chen Sheng will reject him again.
Chen Sheng – 1, Fei Yin – 0 (beast zoned).
”Master.” Xia Di called when he saw Chen Sheng walking towards him. He immediately stood up although knowing Chen Sheng reverted back to who he was before he could change at the Spring of Retribution.
Chen Sheng looked at him, then nodded. He walked past Xia Di, much to Xia Di's surprise.
”Master?” he called, expected Chen Sheng would really sleep with him outside the sect.
”I'll just call you...” Chen Sheng told his contracted beast as he continued to walk away.
Xia Di was left speechless, like Fei Yin. Chen Sheng – 1, Xia Di – 0 (”I'll just call you” – zoned).
Chen Sheng breathed in the cold night air, but he didn't feel cold. He just continued to walk as he watch the citizens silently turn off their lights, about to sleep.
Chen Sheng looked around, remembered this deserted street is like that night he met the fierce corpse, and the days that followed became unexpectedly hellish for all of them Newfound Land people.
Chen Sheng stopped by an inn which is still open. ”Master.” He called to the bartender. ”A jar please.” He told him as he sat beside the two black – robed guys.
”You won't add three more?” the smaller guy asked, sitting on the other side of the guy between them.
”You mean, he needs four more.” The guy between the three of them said.
Chen Shen's brows just raised as he looked at Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng looked at Wen Yan. ”As long as I feel satiated, I won't hiccup that'd make them found me out I drink.” He explained and took the large jar the bartender gave him and started to drink.
Chen Shen grimaced. ”So... why did you call us?” he asked, then glanced at Wen Yan who's staring at Chen Sheng drinking the large jar of liquor as if Chen Sheng's just drinking water from a bottle.
”Ah!” Chen Sheng exclaimed as he put down the liquor that's now in half. ”Care to tell me why shouldn't I when I noticed our body swapped?” he asked Chen Shen and took the jar to his mouth.
Chen Shen's eyes went wide.
”Ah, no.” he said and paused, then turned to the pale Chen Shen.
Wen Yan's face is serious.
”You got your body back from me, and this...” he said and looked at his smooth and soft skin that's like a baby's. ”What d'you call this thing?” he asked, referring to the body where he is now.
Chen Shen gulped and lowered his head, his eyes filled with fear. Wen Yan's face is serious as he stared at Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng gulped down the jar before he continued. ”I already told you. I'm not dumb.” He said and looked at the two. ”Even if I felt like somewhat different at that time, I could still remember what I did.” He told them. ”So?” he said when the two didn't answer. ”What happened to me back then?” he asked and stared at the two, his eyes darkening again.
Sweat fell from the two's forehead as they stared at Chen Sheng. Before Wen Yan and Chen Shen split from their group when they reached the Upright Sect, Chen Sheng secretly called the two and told them to meet him if they'd be back to the Newfound Sect, which will happen sooner than later.
The two, thinking Chen Sheng went back to normal, now regretting they agreed to meet with Chen Sheng after seeing Chen Sheng looked harmless asking them they'd meet.
It was Wen Yan who broke the silence. ”Why would you ask us?” he asked. ”You could've asked Fei Lin or Xi Ling, since those two knows more than what Brother Shen and I know.” He explained.
Chen Sheng looked at him. ”That's the reason why I don't want to ask them.” He said. ”They know many things they'd suspect me if they'd notice I remembered the details of what happened in YuLing.” He explained, referring to the moment when Chen Sheng killed Xi Peng as part of his, Fei Lin and Xi Ling's plan.
Wen Yan and Chen Shen fell silent.
”Tell me.” Chen Sheng said as he looked at them. ”I want to know what am I.” he told them.
A deafening silence fell on their group. Only the clinking of wine glasses could be heard as the bartender who doesn't even glance at them cleans his shelf.
”Alright.” It was Wen Yan.
Chen Shen's eyes went wide and he looked at Wen Yan. But, he didn't speak as he lowered his head and fell silent.
”Since it's unfair to you if we know more of you than what you know of yourself.” Wen Yan said.
Chen Sheng nodded. ”Thanks.” He told him.
”You...” Wen Yan said. ”... you greatly differ than us.” he told him.
”In what sense?” Chen Sheng asked, his face serious.
Wen Yan looked at him in the eye. ”Young Master Xin told me after I reported to him about what happened to the YuLing Village...” he said, referring to the leader of the demonic sect, Mu Xin. ”He said, you are not from here.” He said and looked at Chen Sheng.
Chen Shen lowered his head and shook his head, can't believe this is happening.
Wen Yan added, ”He said you're from a country called 'BaiLong'.” He told Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng's eyes went wide, shocked, but he didn't speak. He just lowered his head.
Wen Yan continued. ”That continent is what I only heard from legends, and so I didn't believe that it exists.” He said and looked at Chen Sheng. ”BaiLong Continent is rich in qi. The people living there don't need to cultivate in order to live longer. That's why the BaiLong Continent is a legend, since it's equal to what you call 'paradise'.” He explained. ”That's why, after Young Master Xin told me you could be from BaiLong, and when I remembered you could control qi... I was convinced.” He finished.
A long silence fell. Chen Sheng just hangs his head, don't know what to do or think. These all are just too much of a shock for him.
”If that's all you gonna ask, then we'll be taking our leav – ” Chen Shen said and stood up.
”Wait.” Chen Sheng called and raised his hand.
The two looked at him.
He raised his head and looked at Chen Shen. ”There's still one more.” He told him.
”What?” Chen Shen asked.
”... can't you do something about Fei Yin?” he asked, frowning.
Chen Shen's brows raised.
Chen Sheng frowned. ”That guy loves you like crazy, and him thinking I'm you piss me off.” He said. ”Can you tell me how can I make him stop liking you? He's bothering me – ” he said and gritted his teeth.
When he moved, his body almost fell.
Chen Shen immediately caught him. ”You're drunk.” He told Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng frowned. ”I'm not – ” he said.
