40 Day 39: The Scum Is Forgetful (1/2)
Starting then, Zu Zhe spent his days thinking... again. But, this time, he has to devise a plan to piss both – Yu Sheng and the voice of the system. Thinking that the ones he could change are only new characters that'd pop out, which is actually due to some OOCs in the story – and the culprit is Yu Sheng...
Zu Zhe's head felt like it's gonna split like a watermelon that's being split during summer. After calming himself, he remembered a plot change – Yu Sheng's soul was split. It was the very first change in the plot. (And it happened because of Yu Sheng – the OOC guy -_-+)
Since Yu Sheng's soul was split, even though it's only just half... the soul should still have an awareness, right? He thought, and evilly grinned. Coincidentally, he also has a plan in mind to piss the voice of the system – that is to publish his plot changes in the online world. It is entitled, Good and Evil: The Cultivation World Revisited.
Even though his novel didn't have an ending, it already is fine and can be called already ended. The last chapter is about the aftermath of what happened, anyway, so there's nothing much to write because everything has already been seen on the war where the villain Yu Sheng lost to the protagonist and fled away, never to be seen again. The last chapter is just a formality or conclusion of the story, where the villain is supposed to be killed or die – which should happen to Yu Sheng.
But, since Zu Zhe transmigrated in the very story before he could write its ending, he decided to write a revision of his novel. The premise is the same as the novel. The only thing that's different is when 'he' (Zu Zhe) appeared in the cave. His character description is just 'the reason Yu Sheng will fall', so there isn't much, which makes him a mystery.
Heck. I'm just a transmigrated author who became a character in his own novel. Zu Zhe thought. Another difference from the original is when Yu Sheng's soul split, which he didn't expect. And the reason why he didn't expect it is because one of his characters, Yu Sheng, went OOC!
The 'OOC guy' should be Yu Sheng's new description. Zu Zhe thought, frowning. Following the story, he started to write. And the very first thing he wrote is the plan he made to piss Yu Sheng – to make his other soul not come back.
Yu Sheng decided to break the silence. ”Where did you sent him?” he silently asked.
Zu Zhe blinked. 'him', not 'it'? he thought, but decided to ignore it. The half soul is still a part of Yu Sheng's soul, so it's also right to call it 'him'.
”Out of this world.” Zu Zhe answered. Yes. He only wrote far away and will never come back, and so it could be considered he threw it out of their world. Yu Sheng didn't answer. ”Are you mad now?” he asked.
For being with the villain, Zu Zhe is the only one who want to make the villain mad at him, which is ludicrousness. But, he doesn't mind it. Being transmigrated to his novel and become a part of it (one of the characters) is already ludicrous. Adding not only one, but two or more, doesn't change it.
It was a while before Yu Sheng answered, which made Zu Zhe surprised. ”... thank you.” He said.
”Ah?” Zu Zhe said and blinked, thinking he just misheard it.
Yu Sheng just stared at him.
Zu Zhe blinked again. ”Hey, hey. Why are you thanking me?” he asked, surprised. ”I sent half your soul far away – ” he told him.
Yu Sheng stared at him, his dark eyes even more darkened. ”... you made him safe.” He said.
”Ha?” this time, he really doesn't follow Yu Sheng. Ah. He never followed Yu Sheng's thinking in the first place. He mentally corrected himself.
But, Yu Sheng didn't answer and started to cook. ”You'll know it someday.” He just said.
Zu Zhe fell silent, don't know what to say. Has Yu Sheng started to go insane? He thought. Haven't seen Yu Sheng got pissed, he frowned as he waited for Yu Sheng to finish cooking.
I'll definitely get him next time. He thought.
'He' watch as he travelled to different worlds. So the one who sent me travelling across the worlds is that guy... 'he' thought, referring to Zu Zhe. But, what's more important is that... 'he' now knows where he came from.
'He' sighed, making bubbles in the water. It's about time for him to wake up.
Upright Sect.
It's already dark yet Chen Sheng still hasn't come out of the cave. Even the elders – Fei Huang, Li Shan, and Xi Peng, came.
Li Shan is staring at Li Tian, but Li Tian didn't notice since Li Tian's worried about Chen Sheng.
”Shouldn't you break the barrier now?” Chen Han asked, impatient, as he looked at the three elders. ”Ah Sheng's been there more than half a day!” he said, mad.
”There're disciples that even took 3 days inside.” Xi Peng said, his face filled with malice was concealed by the darkness.
Chen Han gritted his teeth. He was about to say something when Xia Di suddenly flapped his wings.
They all turned when light come out of the cave, just like what happened earlier. The barrier around the cave slowly disappeared. They all looked at each other, shocked but excited. They immediately flew towards the entrance of the cave and landed.
But, before they could take a step inside, a figure walked out. They held their breath when they saw the one they've been waiting for the whole day.
”Ah Sheng...” Chen Han called, crying, as he stared at his little brother's face he missed.
”Brother Chen!” Li Tian and Feng Mo called, tears falling in their face but they're smiling brightly.
”Junior Brother Chen.” Sun Yi called and nodded, a bright smile on his face. Wu Yuan just nodded at Chen Sheng, but obviously relieved.
”Sheng – ” Fei Yin called, but was cut off by none other than Xi Ling.
”Sheng-ge!” Xi Ling called and ran towards Chen Sheng. His face is bright and he's smiling widely. ”Sheng-ge. How're y – ” he said when he suddenly stopped as he stared at Chen Sheng's face. ”Sh... (sh't.)” he said.
To everybody's surprise, he stepped back.
”Elder Xi?” Li Tian and Feng Mo called, surprised by his reaction. ”What's wrong?” they asked, puzzled.
”Ling.” Fei Lin called, his face serious.
Xi Ling looked at Fei Lin, his face asking and nervous. Fei Lin didn't answer and pulled Xi Ling towards him.
”Hey. What's wrong with you?” Chen Han asked as he walk towards Chen Sheng who's just silently standing at the entrance of the cave. ”Ah Sheng.” He called and turned to Chen Sheng. ”Let's go?” he asked and smiled.
”Brother Chen.” Li Tian and Feng Mo called, smiling, as they walk to Chen Sheng.
Sun Yi's earlier smiling face became blank. Wu Yuan's face that's always blank is serious. The silent Fei Yin earlier who was relieved now is puzzled. The elders are just silent, their expression serious.
Well, except Xi Peng who's suddenly puzzled.
”Ah Sheng. Were you hurt?” Chen Han asked, unaware of the tense atmosphere. His face is filled with worry as he checked Chen Sheng's body.
”Brother Chen. What happened inside the cave?” Li Tian asked Chen Sheng.
The gentlemen who felt tense earlier their eyes fixed on Chen Sheng. But, they didn't speak.
Chen Sheng looked at them, his face blank, like always. ”I slipped on the spring.” He answered.
Their eyes went wide.
”Were you hurt? Did you hit your head - ?” Chen Han asked, panicking although it already happened.
Chen Sheng grimaced. ”I'm fine... brother.” He added, then glanced at Chen Han.
Chen Han's eyes went wide and his heart skipped a beat, his face went red. He didn't answer, but his red face says it all – he's overjoyed.
Chen Sheng pressed his lips tight, feeling embarrassed, too. He looked away. ”Brother Li. Brother Feng.” He called Li Tian and Feng Mo. ”What happened while I was out?” he asked.
”Oh.” Li Tian said and blinked, waking up from daze.
Feng Mo's still looking Chen Sheng, dazed.
Li Tian hit Feng Mo's head to wake the other, then he turned to Chen Sheng. ”We're looking for you.” He answered. ”We found out from Xia Di that you're here.” He explained. ”How did you get here, Brother Chen?” he asked.
”Well...” Chen Sheng and looked at the others. ”It's that damn blanket's fault...” he answered, his voice trailed off when he saw them silently looking at him. ”What's wrong?” he asked.
They blinked, surprised.
It was Sun Yi who answered. ”Nothing, Junior Brother Chen.” He said and smiled. ”We're glad you are fine.” he said.
”Mm.” Wu Yuan nodded. ”After all, it was the Spring of Retribution you fell into.” He said.
A deafening silence fell. Wu Yuan, his face always blank, they're not sure whether he's being sarcastic or what. But, the blank-faced guy saved them the trouble of asking Chen Sheng.
They felt something is off with him.
”...” Chen Sheng. ”That spring has a name?” he asked, surprised.
Just that, the tense atmosphere disappeared. Black lines covered their face, the three elders included. This guy... they all thought. Is he an airhead or what?
”Brother Chen.” Li Tian called. ”What happened to you when you fell on the spring?” he asked.
More black lines covered everybody's face. Feng Mo face palmed. They forgot... this one (Li Tian) is also an airhead.
”... I lost consciousness.” Chen Sheng answered.
Everybody turned to him sharply, their ease earlier now vanished and the tense atmosphere returned as they looked at Chen Sheng.
They all knew what is the Spring of Retribution.
”You... lost consciousness?” it was Fei Huang. He can't hold back anymore.
They all saw the barrier around the cave activated, indicating that somebody is soaked in the spring and the spring is evaluating their soul. But, this Chen Sheng said he lost consciousness. How can he believe it?
Chen Sheng turned to him, then bowed. ”Yes.” He answered and stood straight. He looked at everybody who looked like they've eaten wasabi. ”Is... something wrong?” he asked.
”No, no...” It was Chen Han. ”There's nothing wrong. Ah Sheng, I'm glad you didn't get hurt.” He told him and smiled.
Li Tian and Feng Mo nodded, seconding him.
But, the others' face is serious, especially Fei Lin and Xi Ling. The three elders are worrying about the effectiveness of the spring, yet the two (Fei Lin and Xi Ling) looked like they're having other thoughts.
Chen Sheng grimaced at Chen Han. ”Well... other than my head that hit the floor of the cave, you can say there's none...” he told him.
