39 Day 38: The Scum Is A Liar (1/2)

Months passed by in a flash and the two second young masters to two prominent sects – Promising and Upright, became friends. But, things don't last forever, since one of the second young masters bred envy in his heart, silently suffering in Qi Deviation.

The second young master of the Chen family knew what this will bear, and so he continued to silently suffer Qi Deviation. Now, guilt was added to his heart. The young master had to silently suffer each day, since he can't voice out his suffering, much less shout it.

He suffered, and suffered, until the day he finally saw a chance to escape in his suffering.

This cannon fodder... Zu Zhe thought as he read his novel on the holographic screen. Yes. He finally used the system the voice of the system gave him.

Now he's rereading his story. He glanced at the sleeping (finally! He fell asleep!) Yu Sheng, then continued reading.

”Right now... Yu Sheng is on the run, while the other characters have their backstory told...” Zu Zhe muttered as he continued to read Chen Shen's story.

Fei Yin, again, went to the Promising Sect to escape from his family's drama. He went to meet Chen Shen, who, at that time, is having difficulty with his qi.

Chen Shen, who has been friends with Fei Yin, actually envies the other. (blame the puberty -_- for hormonal imbalance)

Since this side, where he protects Fei Yin from the bullies, Chen Shen only one up Fei Yin, forced himself to go out since he knows that Fei Yin will be visiting him again.

Chen Shen, staggering, walked out of Chen mansion and roamed around the Capital, looking for Fei Yin.

”How will you repay me for shaming me in front of everybody?” a voice said.

Chen Shen turned. Surprisingly, it was the scum but one of the outstanding disciple of the Promising Sect. His name is Sun Yi.

His face is always blank and he's aloof, even towards his master.

”With my body.” The heir of the sect, but poker-faced, Wu Yuan answered. He's the number one disciple, a given.

In which Chen Shen envied about. He knows he's too young to enter the sect and be a cultivator, but he already knows he doesn't have a high aptitude for cultivation. His soul is just that weak, him envying others shows that. That's why he easily had a Qi Deviation before he could even begin his life as a cultivator.

Since Chen Shen is currently experiencing Qi Deviation, he didn't clearly hear what the two talked about in the narrow alley.

He continued walking around.

He was about to turn to the alley where he always sees Fei Yin when he suddenly stopped. He heard a loud voice yelled.

”Away!” Chen Shen is too familiar with the voice he can't be mistaken. It was Chen Han, his elder brother.

What is he doing here? Chen Shen thought. He leaned on the wall and listened. After a second, he saw the bullies went out of the alley.

I knew it. He thought. They're also here not to see Fei Yin, but hurt him. He closed his eyes as he tries to calm his raging soul.

”Why are you here again?” he heard Chen Han asked.

Chen Shen opened his eyes. He knows Fei Yin is coming here? He thought, surprised.

But the surprise immediately vanished because of Chen Han's following words. ”Oh. Right. I know. You're here for my little brother.” He said, his voice sneering. ”What? You want to recruit him for your sect?” he asked.

”I don't – ” Fei Yin answered.

”Ah! I know! I know!” Chen Han cut him off. ”You like my Ah Shen?” he asked, his voice mocking.

This time, Fei Yin didn't answer.

”Hah! So you really like him! Well, that's just natural since my little brother is charming, cute, adorable – ” he said and listed all beautiful words to describe Chen Shen.

Everyone in the cultivation world already knows Chen Han is an ultimate brocon.

”But - !” Chen Han said. ”I'll never let you have Ah Shen!” he said. ”Ah Shen is mine. I'll never let you filthy Upright Sect people – ” he said, disdain in his voice.

Chen Shen fell silent. He knows Chen Han, like everybody in the Promising Land, hates the Upright Sect. One, because of the competition between the two sects. Two, because of the Upright Sect's arrogance.

Chen Shen already heard about Fei Xin, the leader of the Upright Sect and the head of the Fei family. Also, the father of Fei Yin. He's a wily old fox who doesn't want his hands to get dirty, and so he's egging on others and make them do the task for him.

Chen sighed and decided to come out of hiding. But, he's just in time to see the bullies sneaking behind Fei Yin. Chen Han also saw this, but too late.

Chen Shen already appeared behind Fei Yin and blocked himself between Fei Yin and the bullies.

”No - !” Chen Han said when he saw the bullies holding rocks. They threw it to Fei Yin, but hit Chen Shen.

Chen Shen's eye twitched just as he felt the rock hitting his skull. He felt his head got shook a hundred times before he lost consciousness, blood dripping down his face.

”Shen - !” Fei Yin called and caught the unconscious Chen Shen.

”You dared - !” Chen Han yelled and glared at the bullies. He waved his sleeves and a strong gust of wind flowed out from his body and hit the bullies, throwing them to the wall and they fell unconscious to the ground. ”Ah Shen - !” he called and looked at Chen Shen. He was about to take Chen Shen away from Fei Yin's embrace when he suddenly felt the fluctuation of the air around them. ”This...” he said and looked at the silently crying Fei Yin holding Chen Shen tight. ”This is - !” he said, wide-eyed.

Fei Yin's power is about to awaken! Chen Han immediately turned to Chen Shen. He was about to grab Chen Shen and pull him away when he was thrown away by a sudden but strong wave that come out of Fei Yin's body.

The transparent air around him condensed, then started to turn from white to purple. Chen Han stared at Fei Yin, wide-eyed.

Fei Yin reached the first level of Qi Condensation Stage!

”Fei Yin!” he called as he gets up, his back hurt when it hit the wall earlier. ”Let go of Ah Shen! You'll hurt him!” he yelled, mad.

Fei Yin's dazed eyes blinked. He blinked one more time, his head suddenly cleared. He turned to the unconscious Chen Shen. ”Shen... Shen - !” he called as he tapped Chen Shen's cheek, waking him up.

Chen Shen's breathing momentarily stopped. It's because of the malevolent energy that's in his soul was struck by Fei Yin's soul force and the malevolent energy scattered all throughout Chen Shen's body, making him in a bedridden state.

Just as Chen Han was about to bring him to their mansion when Chen Shen woke up.

”Brother...?” Chen Shen said when he saw Chen Han's handsome face. He turned when he felt warmth. ”Yin...?” he said, surprised. He closed his eyes tight, then finally remembered what happened before he passed out. He protected Yin. ”You're fine...” he said and smiled when he saw Fei Yin is unharmed.

Fei Yin nodded. ”Yes. Yes. Thanks to you...” he said and smiled, relieved. He looked at Chen Han.

Both their face is serious. The wound on Chen Shen's head is gone.

”Mmm... yes. It's the malevolent energy, right?” he asked as he continued to read. ”Yes, yes. As the malevolent energy in his body scattered, his body somewhat was 'modified', thus his body was 'restored'. Yes. That's it...” he muttered, his face serious. ”Right! After this, this cannon fodder will embark on a journey to find himself...” he continued as he intensely gazed at the holographic screen before him.

”What are you mumbling?” a voice asked.

Zu Zhe's heart almost jumped out of his chest when he heard Yu Sheng's voice behind him. He turned, his heart beating wildly because of shock, and glared at Yu Sheng, the creeper.

”You - !” he said, gritting his teeth.

”'I' what?” Yu Sheng asked.

Zu Zhe frowned, then looked at the holographic screen in front of him.

”Hm? What are you looking? You're interested in plants?” Yu Sheng asked when he saw Zu Zhe's staring at the ferns.

Zu Zhe froze, then turned to Yu Sheng. ”Yes.” He blatantly lied. So this villain can't see the system. He thought, evilly grinned.

But his grin froze on his face by Yu Sheng's next words. ”Oh? I'm somewhat interested, too. Can you tell me what is kind of flower is that?” he asked and pointed the flowers blooming on the tree's trunk.

Zu Zhe didn't answer, obviously lied earlier. Yu Sheng smiled, a considerate smile, which infuriated Zu Zhe.

Yu Sheng then silently walked away, giving him time to indulge in his shame.

Alright, I lied! Zu Zhe thought, face flushed. I am a NEET! I'm not a scholar who has won gold medals with his super awesome research in plants, nor he is a freaking florist to know all the name of the flowers thus earning him his PhD!

He puffed his burning cheeks, furious. It is a mannerism he caught by imitating the characters.

Yu Sheng who's silently watching him smiled, amusement and adoration in his eyes. This guy is really interesting. He thought and chuckled as he called him.

They're leaving.

He coughed as he slowly opened his eyes. How long has he been drowning? He thought. He gazed at the light on the surface, his eyes full of longing. I think... this is not yet the time... he suddenly thought as he felt his body slowly drifting in the water.

Just how deep is this spring? How deep... he'll sleep? He closed his eyes again.

”Are you sure about this?” the man whose gentle face is filled with worry, asked. He looked at the masked man standing beside him.

The masked man didn't answer and continued walking. After travelling for months, he and his friend finally found a place.

The people turned to them when they saw them. Their eyes went wide, shocked.

”Cultivators?” the people said, surprised.

The masked man turned to the one who spoke. Then, he went to him.
