While Hailey and Jim were talking,Dr. Erwin, one of the trusted member of the research team who was summoned to come over, walked in towards them. He had been watching their exchanges and was so emotionally moved.
”Dr. Hailey, it's not the right time yet to go back to the lab. Dr. Jim needs you more now that he is awake. So, I will be going back ahead. ”
He moved forward and tapped Jim's shoulder. ”I'm so happy for you,Dr. Jim,get well very soon. ”
Then,he looked back at Hailey.
”Dr. Hailey,wishing you both the best. Just call me again if you need me. ”
Feeling guilty for his effort to travel all the way from Palawan,she apologized.
”I understand. He needs you more. ” He, then,smiled and winked at her before he left.
Being left alone with each other, Hailey turned her attention to Jim.
”Dr. Jim,let's focus now on your physical rehabilitation since you are now in a deconditioning
process.” She suggested with excitement.
Prolonged lack of movement can make the body become deconditioned with wild range of psysical and functional effect. Physical endurance would wane,muscle tissues would be wasted and blood volume would decline.
Dr. Jim held a long gaze at her.
”Dr. Hailey,is it the new formulation of the pill that causes my recovery? Is it already perfect? ” He asked with remarkable curiousity,being skeptical in these kind of treatment.
Dr. Hailey smiled. ”I think, it only accounts at a rate of. 01%. The 99% is miracle. I believe that you do not deserve to die early,Dr. Jim. You still have a great task to accomplish here on earth. ”
Jim was touched by her humility. Despite her effort to scan the whole forest of Palawan to find the source of a miraculous component that would address the world's long cry for deliverance from cancer, she still did not attribute it to herself. Thus,she deserved the success to be the founder of the most potent cancer cure because of her humility,selflessness and her love to serve.
”As the discoverer of the enzyme,Dr. Jim,with so many clinical trials,I have proven that this new formulation is indeed very potent but only for cancer stages 1 to 3. For advanced stages like yours where the cancer cells have already widely spread into the major organs of the body including your brain,it is still worthless like the rest of the treatment. ”
”Will I fully recover or am I only in a remission stage again?” He asked,considering the possibility of a relapse.
”It is still early to say it,Dr. Jim,as cancer always have the possibility of a relapse.But as I said,I believe that your recovery is not about what I give you but an answered prayer. ”
He smiled and was moved by her statement once again.
”Dr. Hailey,can I make a request? ” He said with a sense of guilt for adding another thing to her existing burden.
”Sure,what is it? ”
”Whether I can make it or not, on Jia's remarriage,please give her my gift. I have pre - ordered and paid two diamond necklaces on Verdant Rings,the famous supplier of expensive jewelries. If her new husband would be my brother, give it to them but if not,give one for her only and sell the otherfor your research fund. ”
Hailey was very quick to reply. ”You will make it,Dr. Jim.And you don't have to give that gift because you will soon be returning to your
family. ”

Hailey worked on his physical rehabilitation without delay. For few days,she made passive exercises for him like flexing and extending his legs and arms. Then,she allowed him into sitting position with dangling of legs and later proceeded to wheelchair rides by the shore.
After few trials of putting some weights into his legs,Jim began to stand up,took few steps later and soon,walk some miles awaywith Hailey holding and assisting him as they encircled the edge of the small island everyday.
In all the days after that, except on bad weather,they watched sunrise and sunsets together above the magnificent view of the horizon beyond the vast spread of the open sea...
