44 The City Lord 1 (2/2)

The moment the three of them approached him, he looked at them with wide open eyes and blurted out, ”It's that City Lord! He did something that caused my Hannah to behave like that! That Captain was bragging about it I knew she could never betray me!”

Tears were in his eyes, and it looked as if he was desperate to find out whether this was the truth, as he still looked a bit doubtful about it.

After all, how could anyone imagine that there were Teras capable of doing things like this? Although information about the most common Teras was taught, precious knowledge regarding high-level ones was hoarded due to its value. One of the major incomes of the World Government was even to tap into this and sell Ascenders info regarding the locations, habits, and weaknesses of Teras that would make common people shake in their boots.

Such information also included the exact lineup of prominent figures such as City Lords.

Hearing this, Anissa spoke in a kind voice the likes of which Aaron hadn't heard from her yet.

”We know. Your family was torn apart for his pastime. Your son, and we, the Bryar family, will do everything we can to set things right. You just need to rest. Healer, please put him in a restorative coma.”

Relief appeared on his face as he heard this.

All this time, he had had no option but to consider the fact that his wife might have really left him for someone more powerful, which was more painful than any torture that could be inflicted on him.

Over 2 decades of a relationship, just gone like that.

The more he thought about it, the more it had felt that that wasn't the truth.

Thus, since he overheard the Captain, he had actually been hoping against hope that it was true.

Finding out that it was, made him smile.

Before he could say anything more, a white glow covered his mind which had come into existence above the palms of the Healer.

The man drifted into sleep, and the Healer nodded and said, ”It is done. Let me know if he should be woken up.”

As Anissa nodded, the Healer left, and they were left alone again.

”Follow me.”

Saying so, Anissa walked to a specific spot in the room and tapped her foot in a specific rhythm that was almost too quick to notice.

It caused a pleasant sound to echo across the room, but when it stopped, the floor…parted, at that spot, to reveal a set of stairs that lead down.

”Come on. This takes us to the Mansion's audience room.”

The old man said so, but not seeing Aaron step forward, he smiled and walked to the steps before beginning to descend them.

Anissa understood what was the problem, too. She began descending, and that was when Aaron and Woof finally walked forward cautiously.

In an enclosed space, it was always best to remain where there would be no interferences in case they wanted to run.

The path was long. After half an hour, though, they finally approached a door which opened to reveal a lavish room complete with a fireplace.

Before Aaron could take in any more details, though, Anissa spoke again.

”This is safe. You want to kill a City Lord. What the f*ck makes you think that you can be capable of that?”
