Chapter 23 - Do You Resent Me? (1/2)
Once the call with Chen Hao ended, Li Qin Yao lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling. Her heart surged with sweetness after talking to her boyfriend. It was apparent that Chen Hao was good with his words. That has been one of the things she liked about him. After all, who wouldn't want a boyfriend who can speak sweet words to them?
Just as Li Qin Yao was about to shut her eyes, she heard a soft knock on the door. Li Qin Yao stood up and opened the door. Her grandfather, Li Ren Xin, stood outside. ”Grandfather? What's the matter?”
Li Ren Xin smiled. ”Are you busy? Can we talk for a moment?”
Li Qin Yao immediately knew the reason her grandfather was looking for her. Her cousin, Li Mu Bai had hinted to her about their grandfather's intention, and Li Qin Yao knew that her grandfather would find a chance to talk to her before his birthday banquet.
”Sure,” Li Qin Yao nodded and followed her grandfather into his office. She sat down on the sofa and waited for her grandfather to speak.
”Yao Yao,” Li Ren Xin cleared his throat once. ”Grandfather actually owe you an apology.”
Li Qin Yao lowered her gaze. She could guess the reason her grandfather wanted to apologize to her.
”Your grandfather had failed to protect you. I,” Li Ren Xin paused and sighed. ”I did not trust you.”
As the older generation, it was hard for him to apologize to the younger generation. However, Li Ren Xin knew that he could not let these things passed. He was wrong, and therefore, he needed to apologize and said the words in his mind.
Two years ago, during the scandal, Li Ren Xin had chosen to listen to others. In the end, his granddaughter decided to resign from the company. Back then, he did not even try to stop her or protect her.
After Li Qin Yao's father died, his granddaughter had stayed with him and his wife. Because of this, Li Qin Yao was quite close to them. After her granddaughter resigned, she chose to move away from the capital and stayed with her mother in B City. Li Ren Xin knew that his granddaughter must be feeling disappointed in him.
A few months after Li Qin Yao moved away, Li Ren Xin received a letter from an anonymous with a report about the manager of their suppliers.
Upon further probing, Chairman Li found out that the manager was involved in approving the purchasing of unauthorized materials. His granddaughter had nothing to do with the incident. But once Li Ren Xin tried to look for the manager, the man had long disappeared.
