Chapter 22 - You’re Such A Foodie (1/2)

When Li Qin Yao entered the mansion, her grandfather was waiting for her in the living room. He stood up and smiled when he saw his granddaughter.

”Yao Yao, you're back. Your mother did not come along with you?” Li Ren Xin said.

Li Qin Yao shook her head. ”Mother had a few work arrangements so she could not come with me. However,” she took out a wrapped box from her bag and handed it to her grandfather. ”Mother wanted you to have these. It's your favorite walnut cookies.”

Li Ren Xin's gaze softened as he laid his eyes on the box. ”Your mother still remember that I liked them.” He smiled and looked at his granddaughter again. ”How's your mother? Is she doing well?”

”She's doing alright,” Li Qin Yao said.

”Your mother was a good daughter-in-law,” Li Ren Xin spoke with a sigh. ”Back then, I wish your parents did not get a divorce. I don't understand what matters they cannot solve without a good talk.”

Li Qin Yao smiled and could not answer. After all, her parents opt for divorce because her mother could not hold on living with the Li family. Although both her grandmother and grandparents treated her right, it doesn't mean that everyone in the family will do the same. Her uncles and aunts mostly looked down on her mother because of her background.

”Where is a grandmother?” Li Qin Yao asked in her attempt to change the subject.

”She's in the kitchen,” Li Ren Xin said. ”When she heard that you would be staying over, she insisted on cooking something for you.”

”Then, I will greet grandmother first,” Li Qin Yao headed towards the kitchen and watched her grandmother, Mu Lingxi, instructed Auntie Han as she cooked some dishes. ”Grandmother!” Li Qin Yao went to her grandmother and gave the old lady a back hug.

”Qin Yao, you're home!” her grandmother smiled when she saw her granddaughter. When she realized that they were still in the kitchen, Mu Lingxi hit her granddaughter softly on her arm. ”Why are you in the kitchen?”

”The food you cook lured me here,” Li Qin Yao said. ”Grandmother, what are you making? I can smell your steamed garlic prawn from the entrance.”

”Really?” Mu Lingxi sniffed around the kitchen and could not smell it. She had stayed too long in the kitchen and cooked various dishes. The scent of the dishes has mixed, and her nose could not detect anything. ”How can you tell? I cannot smell anything.”

Li Qin Yao laughed. ”Of course. After all, this dish happens to be my favorite, and my grandmother made the best steamed garlic prawn in the world.”

Mu Lingxi looked at her granddaughter with petting. ”Your mouth is too sweet.”

”Grandmother, is there anything I can help you with?”

”Qin Yao, you have just arrived. Why don't you go to your room and rest? Your Auntie Han is here to help me with cooking,” Mu Lingxi said. She turned to another helper and called her over. ”Ah Xiu, you go and take Qin Yao to her room.”
