119 Sick of getting along (2/2)

It was Russ's turn to glance around in confusion. ”Hybrid children.”

Jos nodded as her mind played over a conversation she had had with Xavier. ”Yes...” She whispered as she looked around at the three large faces looking back at her. ”Xavier said his mother was Fae and that Dante's was some sort of demon. He said his father would kidnap the women and force them to carry his children.” She shook her head, ”I'm not sure how many had came before he and his brother, but thinking back I'm sure there were more.” Her words trailed off. ”I don't understand, though, he seemed so disgusted when he told me the story...”

Arei nodded. ”Possibly, but that doesn't mean Dante was against it. He tended to follow his father's harsh behaviors more... but they were both bad men, Jos. Power hungry Sociopaths.” He nodded toward the house. ”My guess, with the way Dante obsessed over Shelly, he was trying to finish out some deranged plan of his fathers. He never tried to actually kill her and he had opportunity.” His eyes trailed over the window of the lower level of the house before turning back to Jos and Russ. ”You say she's been throwing up a lot over the past week or so?”

Russ and Jos exchanged glances before nodding in unison. ”She has, I was on my way to the kitchen for toast when I saw you guys out here.”

Arei's gaze darted to Ry. ”She's pregnant.”

Ry nodded not even a hint of surprise as did Russ. ”We knew she would be. Rin's parents seen it.”

Arei narrowed his eyes. ”But were they sure it was Rin's child?”

Ry and Russ exchanged glances before Ry quickly pushed up from the seat he was setting in and hurried toward the house. ”I'm going to make some calls.” He yelled over his shoulder as he made his way to the open back doors.

Jos met Russ's gaze. ”Do you think it's true? That she's pregnant... with Dante's child?” Tears built in her eyes but Russ ran the pad of his thumb over them to stop the tears before they could fall.

”I'm sure it is Rin's. Why else would she and the baby show up in Rin's parent's photos?”

Jos nodded but uncertainty still hung heavy in the pit of her stomach. ”I better get back in and help her.” Jos said as she turned in a daze back to the doors Ry had left open.

Russ watched as she disappeared inside not saying anything until he heard mumbling beside him. ”Hum?” He asked as his eyes hung to Jos's movements through the large bay windows of the kitchen. A left hook came out of no where and caught him square in the jaw.

”I said, now that that's taken care of, where did we leave off...” Arei said as he cracked his neck to one side waiting to hit the boy again. ”I got to say fucking up that pretty face of yours has at least made watching the two of you together tolerable.”
