Dungeon Core Online Glyax 33820K 2022-07-21

Aside from the progress on the loot, James was curious about the core essence that had been returned to him. Glancing at his total, he saw currently he had 570 essence. The number was also slowly ticking up, as invaders who had killed players or mobs fell in his dungeon. Any invader who fell in his dungeon after earning essence, after all, dropped it for James to instantly absorb. Meaning invaders could actually benefit the enemy dungeon if they were careless.

Of course, while that seemed like a decent amount of essence gained so far, James could only imagine what the costs would be for his Avatar summon and the other options while they were on the Fields of Battle. So far, he couldn't see what those costs were. So, he just had to sit patiently and watch as his essence points slowly increased, and hope that his players did a good enough job of earning him points that when the time for the fight on the Fields of Battle came, he and Rue would be able to take the fight to BLANK in their Avatars.

”Not a bad start to the carnage.” Rue commented over James's hovering eyeball, her eyes watching his essence tick up another 50 points. The small jumps, James was guessing, where when invaders fell. He was eagerly watching the essence counter now, curious to see how it would jump when another party returned triumphantly to his dungeon.

”I suppose.” James glanced from the essence counter, to the countless flashing instance windows. Even as he spoke with Rue, he started adjusting his settings on his instances, turning the flashing off for instances with invasions, and setting parameters for his notifications on the windows. Those parameters being, if the Knights or Boss Slayers entered his dungeon, and if MercerEffect and his team entered as well. After how they had done in BLANKs dungeon, James had added a special notification for that group as well.

The other parameters he established were for if he had a party of level 30 players invade the enemy dungeon, and if the enemy dungeon had level 30 players enter into James's dungeon. Those players would be who James was most interested in, at least for this first day. He figured the second day he would loosen the parameters so he could watch the level 20 players and see if he could start formulating a plan for the Fields of Battle.

”Say Rue.” James finished his settings, and closed the window, turning his giant eyeball towards the pixie. ”Do you know how the essence is broken down?” James hadn't seen a chart listed on the player notes, nor in the core notes. Which made it rather difficult for him to gauge what types of numbers he would be looking at or expecting for day three.

”Mhmm.” Rue grinned, her eyes sparkling mischievously. Which usually meant she had come across the information in a way that wasn't generally allowed. Though, considering BLANKs connection and their access to similar ill-gotten information, James was totally fine with it now.

”Mind breaking it down for me while we wait?”

”Of course, oh Mighty Glyax.” She stuck her tongue out at him and smiled, settling in comfortably atop his floating form. James pulled up a single flashing instance at the same time, one that had apparently still met his new, stricter criteria. The instance, his single third floor instance up, the one he had seen with Stryke Force. The window wasn't an invasion one though. Instead, it was showing at least one level 30 from BLANKs dungeon had invaded his third floor.

Rue's eye arced as he pulled up the instance. ”Really Gly, I haven't even started my explanation and you're zoning me out?”

”Sorry Rue,” James mumbled. He really was interested in what she had to say. He needed to know the breakdown. At the same time though, he was really curious to see what a level 30 or higher player from BLANKs dungeon as capable of. ”How about-” James paused as the instance spread out before him. The swamps were alight with fire and energy, while howls and piercing screams filled the air. There, in the swamps, five brightly colored adventurers walked, leaving death in their wake.

”Oh shit.” A quick glance showed these five players were the best of BLANKs dungeon. Power gamers groomed in a dungeon run by a set of power gamers. James's top guild, The Knights Who Go Ni, had managed to climb to level 37 by the time invasions had started. The party of power gamers making short work of the mobs on James third floor, were nearly all at least level 35. Which was impressive in and of itself, because James's players had a whole extra 24hours of immersion. What concerned James was two of the members of that five-man party were level 39 and their leader… was level 40.
