4 Earning Money (1/2)
Long Yu was speechless at the system's demand. The figure of 500,000 yuan, he wouldn't even dare think of earning such a sum in his entire life time. Let alone 50,000 yuan, his entire fortune right now barely made the 10,000 mark.
After spending travel and lodging expenses in Nanjing city, Long Yu had exactly 9745 yuan in his bank account. It was not particularly small amount, but it was a far cry from the needed 500,000.
He rubbed his glabella with his thumb as he took a seat on the sofa. It was a habit of his whenever he felt frustrated. Somehow, it helps him to calm his mind and gather his thoughts.
After five long minutes of thinking passed, Long Yu finally gave up on forcing the situation. Although he now has a system of infinte potential, he doubted that the system would hand him the 500,000 yuan if he asked for it. Rather, it was a guarenteed 'No'.
So, rather than moping around, he decided to make a trip to the convenience store nearby. The room that he rented had poor ventilation and no cooling device so it could get pretty stifling sometimes.
Anyway, there was no reason for him to stay inside all the time if he could help it.
Having made up his mind, he grabbed his jacket and put it on. The sporadic weather in the recent months made it hard to predict temperature outside.
Long Yu slipped on his worn and slightly oversized sneakers before proceeding to lock the door on his way out.
.....
A figure could be seen heading down the sidewalk, his movement a bit unsual compared to a normal person's walking posture. The lack of lamposts along the street made it hard for one to determine the expression on the face of that trudging figure. That person was Long Yu.
His hands were stuffed into the pockets of his jacket to shield them from the cold. The weather tonight turned out to be quite chilly due to the strong winds that could be heard howling through the night.
It was quite strange considering the nights a week ago was hot enough to make one sweat just by being outside.
Soon, Long Yu reached his destination. The convenience store that he was staring at is smaller compared to the ones near the city. This was because the place he rented was on the outskirts, so there were not many local facilities.
This place always gave him the creeps, especially at night. There were no other shops around it, so the light permeating from the store made it look even more eerie. It was akin to an anglerfish sitting in the dark, waiting for its prey to approach.
As he pulled on the glass door, he could hear the usual jingle caused by the door's opening. Standing there at the counter was a staff in a faded blue uniform, staring at him.
Long Yu went straight towards the refrigerators located at the end of the aisle. It wasn't that he was being rude, but the staff's dead fish looking face made it a deterrent for anyone who wanted to interact with him.
