39 Episode 39: Roots and Banquets (1/2)

An uncle named Kallio brought us to Lex's hometown.

The first time I saw that village, it wasn't normal at first glance, but it wasn't normal after all.

”This is Lex's house.”

And the Lex house we were brought to was a normal house.

It's so normal that I don't think it's that Rex's home.

”Hey, Ride, are you there?

When Kallio's uncle knocks on the door of the house with a donkey, the door opens a little while later.

”What's all of a sudden, Kallio?

That's how it came out of inside was my uncle, who seemed warm.

This is Lex's father?

”Oh, I've got Lex's guests.”

”Lex's?

My uncle, called Ride, sees us.

”I hear Lex introduced me to this village.”

”That's unusual. What the hell are you doing in our village?

”Oh, you know, I say Mina! This is Gyro, Megri, Norb!

”Uh, it's Gyro.”

”Nice to meet you, my name is Norb”

Everyone starts saying hello to Ryde's uncle, so I say hello with him.

”Megli.”

Yeah, I bowed my head properly.

”Hey, this is polite, I'm Rex's father and I say Ryde”

”Uh... we met Mr. Rex in Toguy town, and he taught me a lot about it.”

”Heh, my son. No, surely my son would be convinced to imitate like a teacher outside.”

After all, Rex seems a lot out of standard.

”It's just that Mr. Rex was going to another town the other day, and so Mr. Rex told me that if I go to my parents' house, I should go see it because I have a magic textbook!

Mina, I'm nervous.

Well, I know you're Lex's father, so I'm nervous.

So I'll take care of the troublesome negotiations. That's not my job.

”So long as my son does that. Yeah, I don't mind. Please come inside. Hey, Mom, Lex's friend is here.”

He believed me lightly.

Honestly, I'm worried you might not be a little alert.

Or are you confident that you can handle anything, even if it happens, because you're Rex's father?

I'm going home.

That's how Calio's uncle left lightly.

”Uh, thank you!

”Thanks, old man!

”Thank you”

”Thanks”

When we thanked him, Kallio's uncle responded by waving his hand without turning around.

”It's a small house, but have a seat.”

Mr. Ryde urged us to sit in the chair provided.

”It's coarse tea, please.”

Rex's mother served us tea.

Does having tea mean that this village is surprisingly wealthy?

”Oh, thank you”

Everyone says thank you and mouths their tea.

”... Huh! Yummy!?”

Mina was right.

The tea recommended by Rex's mother was very tasty.

I've never had a good cup of tea like this before, or I've never had tea myself in the first place.

”I used to have nothing to drink, but when I steamed the leaves Lex brought me, it turned out to be a very tasty cup of tea.”

That's Lex, I can't believe you found not only swords and magic, but even delicious tea.

”He said he was using medicinal herbs for high potion.”

”” ”” Bhoo!? ”” ”

”Ha, high potion!? High potion is that high potion!?”

Mina, the wizard, is upset.

Yeah, I know how that feels.

'Cause when it comes to high potion, it's a fancy consumable to admire for adventurers.

Five gold coins in a single bottle is an item for advanced adventurers.

”Sounds like it. My son was talking about some good potion ingredients.”

”Not a bit. Because it's not a little bit.”

Mina is squeaking bumps.

I guess it's because the Wizard's girlfriend understands better than we do the value of the materials she uses for hi-position.

”So how is my son doing?

”Yeah, I was so fine. We've helped Mr. Rex out of danger, too.”

Instead of Mina being shocked and unable to cope, Norb responds.

”That's right! Lex's brother is a mess! He's gonna knock down a mountain of demons, and he's taught us magic!

”Ha ha, is that so?”

”That kid looks like he's having fun and most importantly. This place was a little too small for her.”

Rex's father and mother seem to enjoy hearing about Rex, whom Gyro talks about.

When we talk like this, we look like so many normal people that we don't think of ourselves as the parents of Rex.

”My brother became a B-ranked adventurer and went to a forbidden area!”

”Is B-rank awesome?

”Yes, let's do that. Because it's usually a level that a talented person can finally reach over the years.”

”Really?”
