53 Jaina Interlude (2/2)

'You would have seriously hurt her just then.” Maldova said seriously. ”You are stronger here than out there. As well the fact you are not controlling yourself.”

”I am in control that's why I was walking away before I lost it.”

”Azul fight me!” Jaina said. Then I felt it. She was upset about me knocking her out at the battle. Insulted about the way I conducted the battle. She felt I did her injustice. Treating her like Arthas did to her.

Covering herself in magic she was ready to fight. Seeing me not making a move pissed her off. She raised her hand a several ice projectiles fired off at me. Not dodging I took each one.

They hurt. Quite powerful but not the worse I ever felt. Raising her hands she summoned a giant Ice Storm that solely focused on me.

”Biotic Shielding,” I said as felt I built enough energy for a stronger version. The icicles rained down and pierced my shields. I looked at them before focusing a little biotic energy. Flinging them away, my shield closed back up. I looked over to see Jaina had summoned her Guyver unit. ”Oh, use the armour that was meant to protect you on me. How freaking great. Yah know there is a name for women like you!”

She had her hands over the chest cavity and pried it open. The combined energy mixed magic and psyker power would be devastating.

”Have you lost your mind?!” I yelled at her. She didn't respond as the beam fired out. Redirecting my energies completely forward I took the blow. I didnt know how much of my Nether World had developed behind me. ”You idiot!”

As I held the energy back I latched on absorbing the power. Powering a Concussive Shot I fired it from above.

”Boom!” The beam stopped as I looked to see Jaina was fine behind a magical shield. The Guyver suit retraced as she mumbled a spell. Another Ice storm started, but this time it was bathed in psychic energy.

As storm rained down. I ran through the shards and arrived by Jaina. She was waiting for me. I saw the symbol on the ground and watch to my horror as she used the Geyser spell I did previously. As the torrent of water came up, I rode the water. Using my own runic magic, I healed myself.

While in the air I cast a Water Rain. The several thin needles rained down heading right for her. 'Adrenaline Rush. Cycle Up, Dash.' Using them each on myself, I ran down the air using the droplets of water for foot holds. I caught Jaina in the middle of a spell. Right before it formed I head-butted her.

”Ugh,” She groaned as she lost her footing.

”Overlord's Fury!” I said with a force that welled up from inside. Giant wolf paws formed around my shoulders.

”Azul, stop!” I heard Maldova say. Sparing her a glance I started to stop my attack.

”Arroo,” Jaina howled as she turned into a wolf about the size of Alita.

'So this is what my Laguz blood was reacting towards.' Standing there I watched as she snarled at me. That is when I noticed it. She was not in control of it.

”Mental Cleansing,” I focused on her and watched as her intelligence returned. Seeing her calm down I thought it was over. I was wrong.

My hackles started to rise so I cast my shield once again. ”Ping,” it was instantly broken as several ice spikes pierced the ground and stabbed me. Two in my chest and one in my stomach.

”Grr,” needless to say my wolf was pissed. ”Heal, Cure, Regen.” I casted one after the other. Swinging Overlord's Fury down I watched as her body went limp.

”Bam, thump,” she reverted back to her human form. She was confused about why I didnt trust her in the battle. I thought I did. I just didnt think she understood how dangerous that world was. Its laws just.. were different.Stating at me I was at a loss. I told her what I believed about the battle.

”I did it to protect you. Magic power and Psyker powers are different. They work the same for me but not for you. I didnt think about it. I just thought you would have understood that.” I started to reach out to heal her. I stopped when I felt the anger. ”Yah know what.. this...this is .. more trouble than its worth. I won't coddle you anymore. I though a 100 different ways to help you get through what all happened to you. I gave you a job that I thought you would excel in. I gave you space as needed. I dont know what else to do Jaina. Talk to me!”

”There isn't anything to say.” Jaina turned away from me. I could feel a weird gnawing motion in the pit of my stomach.

I shook my head. I didnt want to keep her just because I like her as a character. ”Ha,” I let out a sigh that felt just right. ”I won't keep you just because I like you. I won't send Techlis away just because I dont like him anymore. No matter how much I want to.” I opened up my interface and looked at the option to send Jaina away.

”Stop!” Galtea pushed me down onto the ground. She was extremely heavy. ”Do not do it.” She sat up and stared down at me. ”Just leave it for now. Please.” Her eyes containing some different messages. But something kept her from speaking any of them.

”Alright.” I moved the interface away and left my Nether World. Arriving back in Mass Effect I went to work with Sophia. Something instantly calmed me down. The synch between me and that body was perfect. Then I remembered that this was the other half my brain was always controlling. I felt completely at ease now.

We chatted for a bit before leaving to a meeting that was called. Along the way, I became very aware of Sophia's body. Painfully aware.
