Chapter 413 - An Unlikely Friendship (1/2)

Due to the fact that Avaleigh's cancer was detected early and there weren't any obvious signs of the cancer spreading, her chemoradiation treatment ended after 3 months. For some people, it took much longer.

On her last day of chemotherapy, Avaleigh brought gifts for all her new friends at the clinic as well as the nurses and doctors that had helped her through the journey. She was grateful for their support throughout the 3 months and was excited to start afresh.

Of course, she still had to get through that last night of nausea and her head was still bald, but she was optimistic about the future.

Emerson was there by her side as usual and he helped her out of the hospital clinic towards the car.

Now that everyone knew about Avaleigh's condition, some reporters were naturally waiting outside. But they had learned from their past mistakes, so they were a lot more respectful.

Instead of rushing up and harassing Avaleigh with their cameras and microphones, they walked slowly beside her, keeping a distance as they gently asked a few questions.

”Ava, congratulations on your last round of chemotherapy. Your peers and friends are all very proud of you. May I ask how you're feeling right now and what your plans are for the future? Will you be returning to 'Let's Go!'” one female reporter asked.

Avaleigh smiled and replied softly, ”I am feeling a little dizzy so I can't really think about the future right now, but I am very glad that it is all over. Chemotherapy is tough. I would like to cheer on my friends at the clinic that are still battling this horrible illness. I hope they all recover smoothly. I may not have set plans for the future yet, but if I can, I am hoping to eventually start a charity for cancer research or help in some way. I hope we will find a cure one day.”

The reporter smiled and nodded in agreement, ”It would be amazing if that could be achieved one day.” She then glanced down at the ring on Avaleigh's finger and asked, ”What about your engagement with Mr. Wu. Are you planning to hold an engagement party now that things are all over? Have you set a date for your wedding?”

Ever since Avaleigh revealed her condition 2 months ago, she had become the biggest trending topic on social media. Every publication followed her story and there were photos of her posted online every single day. 90% of the time, Emerson was in the photos with her. Even though he had an entire casino and entertainment agency to run, he prioritized his fiancee and did not go into the office unless completely necessary. During this time, Jackson helped at the casino and Danson continued to manage the entertainment agency for him. Thus, everyone saw Emerson's efforts and they were completely smitten. All their doubts were immediately dismissed and Emerson and Avaleigh quickly became their favorite couple.

”Yes, when is your wedding? The entire nation is looking forward to it!” another reporter cheered excitedly.

Avaleigh smiled sweetly and glanced at Emerson. She loved this man so much that it practically felt like they were already married. ”I guess...I have to wait until my hair grows back first; otherwise, I won't be beautiful enough to match Mr. Wu,” she giggled as she touched her bald head.

Emerson leaned over and placed a kiss on her head, ”I don't care about your bald head. I could marry you tomorrow.”
