Chapter 281 - Climb Out The Balcony! (1/2)
”The food...was that from you?!” Avaleigh asked in surprise.
The man on the other end remained calm as he answered, ”I heard you hadn't eaten since this morning, so I ordered you some dinner. After all, you need energy to go on stage tomorrow.”
Avaleigh stared at the empty boxes and frowned. No wonder this man was friends with Danson Qian. This was totally something that a player would do. How many times had he tried this trick on women?
”Mr. Wu, I would appreciate it if you notify my manager first before doing something like this next time. You could get me in trouble if Sue finds out. Especially if the food contains something that I shouldn't eat,” Avaleigh warned.
”Something that you shouldn't eat?” Emerson asked. ”Like an allergy? Don't worry, I already checked your fan page. Apart from shellfish, you aren't allergic to anything, right? Plus, I spoke to a dietitian friend and made sure I delivered you the most suitable food. The chicken and cuc.u.mber salad has plenty of protein, so does the steamed fish, and both are low in calories. The poached pears in osmanthus and ginger is good for your immune system and throat. It will help you perform well on stage tomorrow.”
Avaleigh was rendered speechless by the man's reasoning. ”Well...what do you expect me to do with my actual dinner? My manager is going to be suspicious if I don't eat any of it, but I'm too full to eat anything else now!” she complained.
Emerson smiled. This meant the woman actually ate everything he ordered for her. He didn't know why, but he was happy to hear this. He was a bit of a foodie, so he was shocked when he heard about the strict diet that the girls were on. That's why, as soon as he returned to his car after talking to Mimi, he called Cleo who he had met on the day that Jackson and Halia got married and asked her for some recommendations. And, after he spoke to Cleo, he immediately phoned a food delivery service, ordered the dishes from some restaurants near Avaleigh's hotel and got them delivered directly to her room.
Emerson stepped out of his car and looked up at the hotel in front of him. ”I'll come up and eat it for you,” he replied as he walked in. ”Are you outside?” Avaleigh asked in surprise. Why was he outside?
Perhaps, it was because this was the first time he worked with an idol group, or perhaps, this was the first concert he was involved in, the workaholic Emerson felt it was necessary to come to the hotel to make sure everything was in order for tomorrow. He just didn't expect that he'd end up eating a bland caesar salad inside Avaleigh's hotel room.
As Emerson munched on the salad unenthusiastically, Avaleigh stared at him awkwardly. This was the strangest situation she had ever been in. She was watching the CEO of her PR agency force-feeding himself salad so she wouldn't get in trouble from her manager.
Clearing her throat, she said, ”You brought this upon yourself. Why did you suddenly order me food?”
Emerson took another bite of the salad and replied innocently, ”I heard that you hadn't eaten since breakfast and I felt bad that you were thrown into a scandal because of my clumsiness. Besides, I was thankful for your help on the metro.”
Avaleigh held back a smile. This man sounded so pure and free from any ulterior motive, but she remained cautious. He couldn't possibly be as innocent as he appeared. So, as soon as she saw him finish the salad, she began to drag him towards the door, ”You should get going, I need to sleep so I have enough energy for tomorrow. Thank you for the food.”
But, as soon as she opened the door, she noticed a suspicious person standing at the end of the corridor, pointing a camera her way. Avaleigh had been in the entertainment industry for long enough to tell that this person was a paparazzi. They often spied on her, especially before concerts and events.
