Chapter 256 - Father And Daughter (2/2)

”Morton,” she gasped again in surprise.

Morton saw Halia heading for the rooftop and thought it was a good chance to get some alone time with her, but he didn't expect to see her fighting with the secretary. What were these two women doing?

As Morton approached the two women, the secretary tried to struggle free again, but Halia quickly twisted her arm and pinned her against the floor.

Morton looked at Halia in surprise. That move seemed like second nature to her. But, his attention was quickly drawn away by a doc.u.ment that fluttered inside the trash can.

”My signature...” he said in confusion as he picked up the doc.u.ment and looked at it.

”What's this? I don't remember signing this!” he yelled angrily as he waved the paper in front of his secretary.

The secretary bit her lip nervously.

Morton then retrieved the other papers from the trash can and flipped through them. His eyes immediately fired up with rage, ”Did you forge my signature? What's all this? Were you working with Roy? How could you get involved with something so immoral? I trusted you!”

The secretary broke down in tears, ”I had no choice...”

Morton held his hand to his head in disbelief. As he regained his composure, he gathered the papers neatly and said to Halia, ”Come on, let's report her to the police.”

But, just as he started walking away, the secretary said, ”There's no need. I'm already under arrest.”

Before Morton could question the secretary, Halia pulled out a pair of handcuffs hidden inside her pocket and latched it around the secretary's wrists, ”Miss Cindy Huang, you are under arrest for your involvement in fraudulent activity and the embezzlement of client funds. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

Morton looked at Halia in surprise.

”Mr. Morton Meng, can you please come with me to file a report?” Halia said professionally.

Morton nodded his head speechlessly.

Her disguise suddenly made a lot more sense...

...

A car soon arrived to collect the trio and they were taken to the fraud department of the SPU.

But, to Halia's surprise, as soon as they stepped into the building, Officer Huang rushed over anxiously and grabbed the secretary's hands. ”What are you doing here?” he asked as he looked at the handcuffs.

The young woman burst into tears, ”I'm sorry, Dad!”

Halia's eyes grew big. Dad?

The secretary was Officer Huang's daughter?

After she calmed down a little, the secretary turned to Halia and said, ”My father is a good officer. He had no idea what I was doing at the law firm. Let's go inside, I'll tell you everything.”

As Halia nodded her head and led the woman away, she glanced at the expression on Officer Huang's face and frowned. He looked more frustrated than surprised and concerned. Did he really have no idea what his daughter was doing?
