Chapter 253 - The Will (2/2)

Halia received the doc.u.ments and walked over to the sofa. She then lay the doc.u.ments on the coffee table and turned on a laptop. While the laptop was loading, she flipped open the doc.u.ments and looked at them for the first time.

As she scanned her eyes across them briefly, a name suddenly caught her eye and she froze.

Haili Feng!

Her name!

Why was her name on these doc.u.ments?

She quickly grabbed another doc.u.ment with curiosity and stopped when she saw the name of the client.

Their client was none other than her fiance, Jackson Wu, and he was listing her as his main beneficiary.

Halia felt her hands tremble a little. Why did Jackson put her name for almost everything he owned? They weren't even married yet. Did he trust her that much? Why didn't he discuss this with her first?

Moreover, why did he come to have his will written at this particular law firm when he knew she was working undercover here? Did he deliberately do it so she could see it?

Halia felt her eyes tear up a little.

Both her and Jackson were from rich backgrounds and were roughly on the same level in terms of status, so the content of the will didn't really matter; money and status meant nothing to her. What really mattered was the priority that he placed on her.

Halia swallowed and stood up.

”What's wrong?” Morton asked when he saw Halia stand up all of a sudden.

Halia quickly turned away so Morton wouldn't see her slightly teary eyes. She then walked towards the door. ”I need to go to the bathroom,” she said as she scurried out.

Morton looked at her with concern. She seemed unwell. Was she sick?

As soon as Halia left Morton's office, she rushed out to a quiet corridor. After looking left and right and making sure no one else was around, she sent Jackson a message, ”Why didn't you tell me you were coming here to write a will?”

Almost instantly, Jackson replied, ”Surprise!”

He then continued to type, ”I thought you wanted to investigate Morton, so I gave him a big client. If he's a good guy, he'll help me properly. If he's a bad guy, he will definitely take advantage of this opportunity.”

Halia read the response and furrowed her brows, ”Aren't you afraid that he'd steal your money and scam you?”

”You're there. There's nothing to be afraid of,” Jackson replied.

He then added, ”After all, Wifey, the inheritance is yours. If he steals anything, he's technically stealing from you.”

Halia blushed a little. Did he just call her Wifey?
