Chapter 248 - The Top Drawer (1/2)
A lot happened between Danson and Marissa that night. Most of which Marissa forgot. All she knew was, when she woke up the next morning, she was lying n.a.k.e.d next to Danson inside a hotel and her body was sore.
”You pervert!” she screamed as she kicked Danson out of bed.
Danson woke up and rubbed his eyes, ”What's wrong, we've been together for almost 2 years, isn't it about time we slept together? Besides, you consented to it.”
Marissa shook her head, ”I would never consent to it!”
”Why not?” Danson asked with a smirk even though he already knew the answer.
”I-I-I...I was simply not ready for it...” Marissa lied as she grabbed her clothes.
Danson walked up behind Marissa and whispered beside her ear, ”Were you not ready, or did you never intend on doing it with me? After all, you only dated me for my money...”
”What are you talking about?” Marissa asked awkwardly.
”I'm not stupid, Marissa. You used me so you could look good for Emerson, and now, you want to break up,” Danson said.
Marissa looked at Danson in surprise. When did he find out?
Danson quickly put his clothes back on and walked towards the door. Without taking a glance at Marissa, he said, ”Let's never meet again.” He then left the hotel room with no intention to ever see her again.
After that, he also broke all ties with Emerson. He couldn't face his best friend when he knew that the woman he loved had used him to get close to this person. Plus, he believed they would eventually end up together and he didn't want to be around to witness it. But, Emerson had no idea what he did wrong and Danson refused to tell him.
Danson then transformed back into the person he once was, flirting with women and changing girlfriends often. But, no matter how hard he tried, Marissa left a scar in his heart that took a long time to heal and he hated her for it.
Then, 6 years later, just as he thought he was beginning to forget her, he returned home one day to find her sitting on the sofa in his living room. When he first saw her, he was shocked. She looked a little different: her nose was a little thinner, her lips were a little thicker and her b.r.e.a.s.ts were obviously fake, but he still recognized her. He could never forget her.
”What are you doing here?” he asked with frustration.
When Marissa saw him, she was also shocked.
At that moment, Danson's father walked in and wrapped his arm around the woman, ”Danson, I would like you to meet your new stepmother.”
”Stepmother?!” Danson exclaimed.
When Marissa first met Donald Qian, she had noticed that he shared the same surname as Danson, but it was a common surname and she didn't think it would be such a coincidence that they were related, let alone father and son.
Moreover, Danson was always out partying and flirting with girls and barely turned up to work, so his father wasn't particularly proud of him and only ever referred to him as 'the rascal'.
Who knew that this rascal was Danson Qian. A man that she never wanted to see again.
This unexpected turn of events threw Danson and Marissa back into each other's lives. And for 4 years, Danson put up with the fact that this woman was his stepmother.
Even though...he knew better than anyone that she was simply using his father to get to Emerson, he enjoyed seeing her struggle. It somehow eased his pain to see her like this.
