Chapter 291 - Parting Ways (1/2)
The cloud of dust gradually revealed itself to be a group of horses riding towards the bridge where Mercury and Molly was filling their waterskins, Mercury could see the people on the horses and found them familiar, too familiar so he gave a sigh and handed the empty waterskin to Molly as he spoke
”...I'll go handle these clowns”
The group on horseback stopped about 10 meters away from where Mercury was standing with his cane, when the dust settled it became clear that it was David and his seven goons, David looked at Mercury with an almost insane gaze as he spoke from atop his horse
”I'm going to butcher you like a scorpion, pervert!”
Mercury gave another sigh, unknowingly something within him was beginning to change, he was begging to see the filth before as well… Mortals, and Mortals that bothered him should be swept aside, so that was what he was going to do
”Please get off your high horse… Filth”
David let out a laugh, he wasn't able to notice how the atmosphere around Mercury had suddenly changed, Molly however caught onto to it, only slightly though but that was enough to chill her in place, Mercury saw that David's lips were moving along with his face as he was talking, no doubt about how he was going to torture Mercury to death but the sound didn't register, instead, all he heard were party's voice repeat in his head that and a fighting amount of white noise
[That's right, I have fulfilled my task in bringing the 5th living god into the world of Alfan, that is you Mercury, no doubt about it, you are a living god and thus you are almost immortal, that said until you chose your class your powers are limited~]
Suddenly he tuned in again as all the white noise he was hearing suddenly stopped as he muttered the words
”I am… Immortal”
As he spoke the word immortal he tapped his cane and sent eight rocks flying that buried themselves into the chests of David and his seven goons killing them instantly, then as they were still falling he tapped the cane again and opened up eight holes in the ground where the still-warm bodies fell into before he tapped the cane a final time and the holes closed up, the only a faint splash of blood on the sand remained along with the eight horses, Mercury clapped his hands before he turned to Molly and asked with a calm smile on his face
”What horse do you want?”
Molly however found that smile to be too calm and unknowingly took a step back, Mercury showed a calm smile and took a step forwards as he asked
”What is it?”
Molly swallowed her silva and spoke
”You… Killed them?”
Mercury blinked once before he gave a nod as if she was asking if the sky was blue or if the sun rose from the east, but seeing as she wasn't convinced he raised two fingers
”Two times”
”Eh..? What do you mean two times?”
Mercury took a step towards Molly
”Two times did David push me… And two time I let him live”
Mercury took another step towards Molly as he threw his hands up
”What would you do? I mean, when a fly is annoying you not once, but twice?”
He took another step as he continued
”Let it continue to annoy you a third time?”
Molly looked at his eyes in horror, they were cold… So cold, Mercury reached his hand out and grasped her chin, and looked into Molly's eyes before she suddenly slapped him across the face as she yelled
”What's wrong with you Mercury!?”
Mercury took of the slap as he was unprepared and fell to the side, he looked down into the sand as he suddenly seemed to have snapped out of something as the light returned to his eyes
”What… Did I just do..?”
”You killed them Mercury!”
”I…”
Mercury looked up at Molly, Molly saw that confusion was visible in his eyes and paused before she asked again
”What's wrong with you Mercury..?”
”I…”
