While they were talking, A Miao brought Yaya out. When Yaya saw Shen Xinglan, she called, “Daddy!”
“Yaya!” When Shen Xinglan went forward to hold her, Yaya withdrew her hands and hugged A Miao. “I want to sleep with mom! I want to sleep with mom!”
Shen Xinglan held her in his arms. “Yaya, daddy has told you before. She is not your mom.”
“No!” Yaya cried and stretched her hands out to A Miao. “Mammy! Mammy!”
A Miao stood there, not knowing what to do. Yaya cried uncontrollably. Lan Lixiao could not stand to see her cry.
“A Miao, take the baby back. She should not cry any more. It’s bad for her health.”
A Miao’s heart ached and she took Yaya back immediately. The little girl embraced her tightly and called her mammy, while sobbing.
“Elder Master.” The auntie came over with a wooden plate in her hands. There was a small bowl on it.
Uncle Fu put the bowl on the table and said, “This is steamed egg with minced meat.”
“A Miao, you take her to Xiaohua Hall. I am going to talk with Mr. Shen.”
“Okay, grandpa,” A Miao walked away with Yaya in her arms.
Lan Lixiao turned to look at Shen Xinglan and said, “Director Shen, how long will you be staying in Jingcheng City?”
The night grew darker. When Uncle Fu came over, Yaya was sleeping in A Miao’s arms.
“Sorry to bother you.” Shen Xinglan held Yaya in his arms, with his back to the others, seizing the opportunity to scratch A Miao’s palm.
A Miao shot him a glare secretly and whispered to him after putting on the correct expression. “Be careful. If your daughter had not run into me, we don’t know what awful things could have happened to her.”
“Rest assured, I won’t let it happen again.” Shen Xinglan held Yaya in his arms and turned around to thank Lan Lixiao. Then Lan Wenxuan saw him to the gate.
“Please stay.” Shen Xinglan said with some hesitation, “Concerning what we spoke of just now, I want to discuss it in depth with you, at your leisure.”
Lan Wenxuan smiled and said, “Okay, I will be glad to.”
A Miao asked Lan Lixiao, “Grandpa, did you scold him for being so careless as to lose his kid?”
“That is his personal family matter. I should not get involved in it.” Lan Lixiao rubbed his moustache and said, “Don’t be too bothered if you meet the little girl next time. She is too young, and she will understand that you are not her mother when she grows up.”
“It doesn’t matter.” A Miao said with a smile, ” Yaya is cute and I like her.”
Lan Lixiao recalled her beautiful face, and agreed with A Miao. “Yes, she is pretty.”
Shen Xinglan took Yaya home. Ouyang Jin came forward and said, “Did she fall asleep?”
“Yes, I’ll bring her to the bedroom first.”
Ten minutes later, Shen Xinglan went downstairs. Ouyang Jin looked at him, reading the expression on his face.
“So it worked well?”
Shen Xinglan had arranged this chance meeting to let the Lan family see Yaya. As long as Lan Lixiao did not dislike the kid, Shen Xinglan would be able to meet A Miao more conveniently.
“Since you are so happy, I don’t want to say something that will let you down.” Ouyang Jin leaned back on the sofa with affectation. “Ah! You are just like Helen of Troy.”
Shen Xinglan gave him a kick and said, “Just say it.”
“The traffic accident that happened to A Miao was not an accident, actually.” Ouyang Jin shrugged his shoulders and said, “However, we can’t find who did it. The Lan family will continue to look into it.”

“It seems that Mr. Zheng has an appointment today, so we can talk another time,” Shen Xinglan looked at the man next to her, and said with dissatisfaction. Then he turned away.
Li Nian stood up immediately and said, “Director Shen, wait a minute. I know what you want to talk about. It’s the same if you talk to me.”
