164 I Know Something... (2/2)

As it wasn't a secret for her, Dongmei nodded her head and admitted, ”Instructor, my name is Guan Dongmei, the only daughter of Guan Dong.”

Both the gun instructor as well General Clark froze, not knowing what to say. There was only one Guan Family and no one else dared to name themselves as such.

”That Guan Dong…?” General Clark asked politely to confirm. He didn't want to be rude in case she was the one he thought she was.

Dongmei sighed in response and expressed her wish, ”Instructor, I don't want to use my father influence to join Seven Stars and instead my own strengths.”

Walking up to Wuxing, she hugged him and added, ”I want to join my fiancee in this journey but we don't need any preferential treatment.”

”Miss Guan…” General Clark started cautiously. ”I understand your wish but anyone who learns the truth won't be able to treat Miss correctly. It's unavoidable.”

”Then let's keep it a secret,” Dongmei quickly proposed. ”If we joined the Seven Stars with connections, everyone would look down on us which is not what we want.”

General Clark finally understood and agreed with a nod. ”Miss Guan, how about we just delete your last name from the files or change your name to a nickname? This way we would avoid any issues,” General Clark proposed.

”I'm fine with just Dongmei,” Dongmei didn't mind the change, knowing that Wuxing called himself Chameleon on the papers.

”Alright, I will settle everything,” General Clark said while smiling and called out to the gun instructor who was standing on attendance. ”I think there is no need to continue with this examination.”

Just as he said it, a quiet voice called out from the side, tugging on Wuxing's shirt. ”What about me…?” No one paid attention to Scarlet as if her presence disappeared so she had to remind herself to everyone.

She still thought she had to take some kind of test but General Clark glanced in her direction and assured, ”Don't worry Miss, you passed too. I'm sure that you are also as skilled as your friends.”

He didn't even think she wouldn't be, knowing who their friends were.

”Oh, okay. I'm fine with it,” Scarlet accepted her fate, not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

General Clark turned out to be very effective, processing all of their passes within fifteen minutes. He didn't have to do it but he treated it as a greeting gift to Dongmei.

Many wondered why General Clark was acting like this, especially high ranked officials, but seeing Katherine, they gave up their investigation, thinking it was for her.

As they walked back to their limousine, Anna couldn't help but ask Dongmei, ”Does your family have connections in Seven Stars? The general was jumping around us like an assistant the moment he heard your name.”

There was a saying, keep your friends close but enemies closer, and Anna definitely stuck by this rule. Even though Dongmei wasn't really her enemy but rather an opponent, same rules applied.

”Well…” Dongmei hesitated as they all entered the car and exposed only the minimum. ”You should know how influential my family in public. We indeed have some connections with the boss of Seven Stars yet I don't know the details.”

”Maybe Katherine knows more. I heard that most Generals have some knowledge about it,” Dongmei proposed, looking at Katherine and everyone turned in Katherine's directions.

She shrugged, having no choice but to talk.

”I indeed know something…”
