60 The Bone Dry (2/2)
In a couple seconds, a giant snake materializes next to Callista. I turn my head to look at Royal, who quick as an arrow shot towards me and coils around my body. He nudges his head into my chest as he starts to hiss.
”Did you miss me?” I tease him as I rub his scaley head, he tilts his head to look me dead in the eye before his tongue flicks out and licks my face. If a snake could smile, I think he'd be smiling right now.
He squeezed me a bit before he slowly unwound himself from around me, he turned his head and looked down at Wit, a confused expression on his face.
His head jerked back towards me as he looked at me for an answer, I can't help but smile at his antics. I missed my buddy, he'd been with me since I awoken in this fucked up place.
”This is the Witch of Blood, and behind you is Callista, she's a Ceryneian Hind,” I tell him pointing towards Callista. She dips her head as he turns to look at her, she looked elegant standing in this bleak landscape.
A hiss leaves his mouth as he dips his head in greeting to them both.
”Rain,” Locasta calls my name and I look over to see them both standing over by a rock, which hadn't been there a couple of minutes ago.
I raise my arm and Royal shrinks down and slides up onto my arm, his head rests on my wrist as he twists his body around my arm like a wire. Walking forward Callista trails behind me, her breath hitting the back of my neck, it was actually cool.
The twins have the map out in front of them and are studying it with keen eyes.
”What did you find?” I ask them.
”There are more things in this desert, there are ruins that might contain the fruit, but there are also two huge Oasis that might contain the fruit. We're trying to decide if we should split up and search each of these places individually to conserve our time,” Locasta fills me in.
I look down at the map and there are indeed three huge landmarks, two of them are indeed Oasis and the other is a temple like ruins.
”Splitting up may not be a bad idea, but how are we going to keep in touch?” I ask.
”Ahem, I can fix that,” Bavmorda has a smile on her face as she pulls out a wand and begins to speak. However, I have no idea what she is saying in the least.
A small green dot of light appears on the tip of the wand as she finishes the spell and flicks the tiny green ball into the air. It breaks apart and rains down on us, I felt a cooling sensation and then a small sharp sensation of pain in my temple.
'Can you hear me?' Locasta asks, however, she didn't move her mouth.
I raise my eyebrow and she laughs.
”It's a spell that links the mind of other people, although, it's only good for about five hours after that the effects of the spell ware off,” this time she spoke as she smiled at me.
”Niffty,” I say softly.
”Which place do you want to take?” Locasta ask me.
”I'll take on of the oasis,” I had no desire to go into some weird building in the middle of the desert when I'd just gotten out of the creepy hospital place only a few days ago.
”Alrighty, then Bav will be taking the ruin's and I'll take the other oasis” she points to the one to the left”, there is another landmark that we can all meet up at,” Locasta pointed a manicured finger to a small smattering of trees on the map,” here,” she finishes.
I mentally note down where she pointed and nod my head.
”Let's go then,” I say.
