60 The Bone Dry (1/2)

We arrived at the edge of the forested area and came upon a completely different ecosystem from the one that we'd just come from. The lush green forested area that we'd first arrived it was no more and we continued forwards into the area labeled, 'The Bone Dry' and it was just as the name suggested it was as dry as a bone.

This was a desert through and through, my pores felt like all the moisture was being sucked out of them. I felt a fine film of sweat cover my whole body.

There was little to no foliage around, there was a couple of oddly colored Cactus that stuck up from the red clay ground. A couple other strange things jutted out from the barren landscape, even the temperature changed as we continued forward.

It was truly a dry and barren land that we'd stumbled upon.

Sweat poured down my back, I paused and raised a hand over my eyes and looked upwards. It was like everything had changed even the sun seemed to burn brighter and hotter as we entered into this new area.

A few strangling clouds surfaced in the air and drifted overhead, but they did little to protect against the blazing heat of the sun. Lowering my head, I look over at the twin's who were both covered in head to toe in black.

They looked as if they'd been standing outside for hours, due to the amount of sweat that was dripping from their noses and their bodies. A quick as thieves they begin to strip out of their coats and anything else that was unneeded in this blistering hot death trap.

Their hats didn't move in the least at their quick movement it was like they'd been glued to their head, I suppose the wide brim of the witches hat provided a modicum of shade from the blistering rays of sunlight that we're beating down on our bodies.

In the next instant, they grabbed the hem of their tiny black dresses and pulled them over their head in one quick move. Leaving them standing in only thin shreds of skimpy underwear, and an assortment of metal and boots.

”This really could set fire to you, huh?” I joked as they glared ruefully up at the sun as they waved their hands and another set of clothing appeared quickly out of thin air.

This time it wasn't the traditional black that they'd been dawning since I met them instead they'd actually brought out something white

”Funny,” Bavmorda growled at me, she slipped on a dress that was beige and quickly covered the rest of her skin with other light garments and Locasta quickly did the same. Soon I couldn't see any of their skin.

Looking down at Wit, I see that her delicate white skin's already started to burn a bit.

”Here do you want to borrow one for her?” Locasta voice drifted into my ear, looking up I found that she was holding out a covering for Wit. I smile at her and quickly take it wrapping it around my little witch.

She looked a little better once the sun wasn't burning her light flesh into a red blister.

”Aren't you going to cover up as well?” Bavmorda asks me, I honestly didn't feel too bad underneath of the burning rays of the sun, it was hot and uncomfortable but not painful enough to warrant that I pull out something to cover every shred of my flesh from its rays.

”I think I'll be fine,” I say standing up after I smiled at Wit.

”Don't ask us to rub sunburn ointment onto your back,” Bavmorda says with a casual shrug as she treks forward map in hand as she scans the surroundings, looking for a landmark of sorts.

Locasta throws a small smile over her shoulder as she follows behind her sister, and I don't pay any mind to it. I'd gotten used to her rudeness, it would be weird if she was nice to me. Licking my lip, I rub a hand over my neckless.

”Don't touch me with your sweaty hand it's hot enough already without you warming my up with your sweat covered hands!” Jade screeched from the neckless and I couldn't help but crack a smile at his angry little voice.

”Good to know that you're still with us,” I laugh as I move my hand from my neckless. I look at the two twins that are arguing about which direction to go and rub a hand along the back of my neck. ”Do you still want to come out now?” I joke.

”I'm perfectly fine where I'm at, right now!” His little voice squeaked out quickly and I chuckled. I might as well, prepare while I wait for those two.

Who knew if we'd run into other people out here, more likely than not they'd be less than friendly. We'd been lucky, I think, and hadn't run into any monster that we couldn't kill with ease. But luck was something that could always run out quickly.

Tapping my wrist, I summon Callista, who gives me a quick bow. I pat her head as I raise my hand, ”Summon Royal,” I say as black and purple smoke pours from a glowing black pentagram that appears on the floor of the desert.
